  1. I think I will put my resume out there and hopefully I will feel confident enough to make the change, I believe LTC just burns you out after too long. Thanks for your responses! Angi
  2. How many of you went from LTC to the hospital and was the transition bad? I have worked LTC for 5 years and would like to go to the hospital, but to be honest it scares me. I did go to the hospital and worked the med-surg unit for 3 months, but could not stay on nights b/c of the kids at home alone. I know the hospital has day shift positions, but I don't know how it would be or what the pay cut would be. Any suggestions??
  3. Sorry this happened to you. Patients fall with staff present and not present every minute. Don't take it personally, but learn from it how you could handle the next situation better. Good luck to you!
  4. Thanks. I really do want the ER position, I'm just nervous about changing areas of practice I guess. I'm not sure really what I will do. If they offer both jobs, I'll probably take the ER position and just hold on tight! I really am burned out on repetitive nursing. Just unsure how the ER nurses feel about new grads coming in that area. Thanks again, Angi
  5. Hello to all. I have not been on too much for the last 9 months. But, THANK GOODNESS TO BE BACK!!!! I have missed this site very much. I went back to school and will graduate from the ADN program in 2 weeks- thank goodness for that as well. Now here's the question--- I worked in LTC for the last 3 years. I started as a CNA, then worked there as a LPN, and I'm still there on weekends. But, I have an interview with a local hospital for positions in the ER and on the surgical floor. ER really interests me and they have a great orientation/preceptor program, but I am TERRIFIED. Let me get some opinions from you all as to whether I should start my journey as a RN in ER or on the surgical floor. I just want too be sure I'm not taking too big of a jump if I go straight to the ER. Thanks to All----- Angi
  6. Because here I only have to be me. I'm just Angi and nothing else. :)
  7. I got a new coffee pot! The great Hamilton Beach Brewing Station. It's the one the coffee stays up and you put your cup under to dispense. I been wanting one since the day they came out! I also got the joy of sleeping in. My kids actually watched TV until we got up and only marveled at the presents. They didn't open even one before we got up. That was a Christmas miracle in itself! SmilingBluEyes---- So glad your husband was able to be home with you. My thoughts have really been on the ones that couldn't be this year. Love, Peace, and Happiness to all----Angi
  8. I will graduate in July from the LPN classes and next June from the ADN program. Thanks everyone! I understood that it would all be that way, so I guess I just blew a gasket over nothing. I would never quit, but this is only my 2nd sem. and I am so stressed out. Thanks again everyone. I really do want this. I have wanted it for a long time. I know deep down that I can do this--- sometimes I just freak out b/w school, kids, work, and everything else going on. Thanks for listening everyone. You are all a very special group of people. :kiss
  9. We were informed today that when we finish school the format for the nclex will be fill in the blank---WTF????? I am so upset. The instructor said it would be a computerized fill in the blank and that spelling would count b/c of using the computer! I probably should quit now! Why are they changing it? Does anyone know if this is definitely real?? Thanks for letting me vent, I don't know if I can handle all this or not.
  10. I am in school, so do not really know ALL the issues of the foreign nurses, but it upsets me that when I finish school I'm going to have a mountain of debt and thiers is Paid In FULL! There are people in the good ole USA that would like to go into nursing, but are scared off by the cost. I think this money should be available for the people that want to do for their own country before giving to the ones from somewhere else.
  11. My favorite one is, "Mom, he breathed on me!"
