Nursing School Uniforms

I start the nursing program at a community college in January and our school only designated that our uniforms be white! I cannot find any professional white uniforms except for a few styles. Does anyone know of anyplace I can buy white nursing uniforms online? I am not skinny and white is not exactly flattering when you have padding. :chuckle

Any advice on websites or flattering uniforms would be appreciated. I want to look professional.

Can you buy the white dickies in a store or do you have to get them online?

We also have to have white scrubs for my nursing school. They can be any kind except "see thru". I have Barco uniforms. They are not see thru and are very soft and comfortable. Plus, they have lots of pockets.

tell me about it. And you know those pesky white briefs are not that easy to find. I used to see them all the time but I dont like white underwears that much so I never bought any. Than I find out that my school uniform will be all white. So off I go to Ross to by myself some white underwears(they are really really cheap there like 1.99 for the same ones voctoria secret has for like $7.00) and I only found like 4 of them :(!!! But its ok I still have time since I start in January!!!!!

This may be TMI, but.... I found some great undies at Target a while back ago and I am pretty sure they still sell them. The are shaped like a square. They are those "boy shorts" but they don't ride up and the fabric is very comfy. I plan on getting more of those when it's time. The brand is Gilligan O'Malley. I am a shapely girl, round butt and curvaceous hips, and no wedgies. I love 'em. And they cover all the way down around the curve of my bum. :rotfl: And no pantylines! Okay, I hope I didn't overshare. I plan on looking for nude undies too.

I start in January and our clinical uniform is white pants with a white polo style shirt. Then we have to wear a vest that we buy from the school and affix a patch to it. I don't have any idea what the vest looks like yet.

I was kind of surprised that we wear any old street clothes to lectures/labs.

LOL, I bought the exact same undies! And I agree, they are very comfy and don't ride up!

to the OP,

We were told before nursing school that we would be wearing white. Many people went out and bought several uniforms...

Then on the first day of class they handed out a strict uniform policy that detailed exactly how the uniforms were supposed to look, no pinstripes (which look really neat), no flare/cargo pockets. No permanent creases. No single front pockets. No clogs for shoes. Must be leather so they can be wiped clean. etc.etc. etc. People went out of their minds worrying about having to take back what they had already bought in their excitement! And many places were sold out and had uniforms on back order by then b/c us 'smarties' waited and bought them out when we knew what the EXACT dresscode was.

so word to the wise...there may be more to your uniform requirement than the color white.

LOL!!! I am going to buy some tomorrow!!! I am in desperate need of some comfortable white undies to wear under my uniform.

i'm happy to read that they are others out there who have to wear those ugly white uniforms!

and we're not allowed to wear scrubs either, it has be a student uniform top.

here's what most of us wear:

and of course we have the patch of our school on the left sleeve.

we also have to wear all white shoes and crew socks, no ankle socks allowed. and your hais has to be either so short that it's off your collar of it has be up and contained (that means the dreaded bun, no pony tails allowed)! and it has to be more or less plastered to your head, no flyaways allowed either! :uhoh21:

i agree, wait until you know the exact dress code. we have a similar dress code; no clogs or other open back shoes, creased pants (most bought pants with a seam down the front), white or flesh colored undies, no "lacy" undies or bras, no cargo-style pants, ...

we had a lady from a local print shop come to the school during the first week of class. she brought different styles we are allowed to wear in all available sizes and we were able to try them on and then order them directly from her.

After hearing about everyone that has to wear all white, I'll never complain about looking like a smurf in all bright blue again.

Really, what do these people expect? You are student nurses, and I know that within the first hour of working my LNA shift, I have had something splashed on me, from whatever (usually from trying to rinse a commode or urinal, getting splashed from the excessive water pressure!). Sure, white looks nice when it's first put on and pressed, but wouldn't it be better to have the students look uniform and CLEAN in a color, rather than in stained whites at the end of the day???

I don't know......my age must be showing! ;)
