Hi! I am going back to get my RN degree....only have a few classes left to take. I have not been in school in several years and currently studying like hell to regain all the knowledge from when I first went to school. I am looking for a sheet of paper or a web site or anything that has nursing abbreviations on it for when you document something....ie....bid= twice a day....can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.........

Hi,

Good luck on your return to school. We were required to buy a book on medical abbreviations. I do not have it with me now so I do not have the title. If you go to a book store or Amazon I am sure you can find one.

Hi there,

I was also required to buy a book on abbreviations. But the one thing that you have to remember is that most hospitals have their own list of accepted abbreviations that they use at their institutions. I would ask your clinical profs at the beginning if they could supply you with this list. Good luck smile.gif

A couple of things you may find useful are a nursing dictionary eg.Balliere Tindall (RCN) or a pharmaceutical book which lists a whole host of other abbreviations.

Good look with the rest of your training!

There are many common abreviations and there are some that can be individual to an institution. If you have a friend at a hospital ask her to run off a copy from her

policy and procedure manual. It should have all the common ones and probably more.

Hey, I am a nursing student at this present time. I can help you with what abbreviations you need. Just tell what ones you will be needing and I will e-mail them to you. Please let me know soon.

Thanks

You should download the mini nurse lite app on the android market, it has every medical abbreviation and it can quiz you. Its also free. I'm sure that it is available on the apple market as well.
