Nurse Pinning Months Before Program is Over

At my school, we are having our pinning ceremony 1 semester before we are actually finished with the program because many nursing students are graduating in May and the school does not want to put on another pinning ceremony the following semester. Does anyone else go to a school like this? I find it very awkward and I do not even truly wish to celebrate it because I will not really be done yet.

We have a pinning ceremony every semester. I would feel uncomfortable too.

I would be uncomfortable as well. I'm not superstitious but I'd be afraid of tempting fate. People can and do fail their last semester. That would be a tremendous letdown.

It almost seems as if the school is saying that its December grads aren't important enough to merit their own pinning ceremony. If it was maybe one or two students who had to finish up some gen ed requirements or electives in the fall, thus delaying graduation, it would be a different matter. But the whole class? It doesn't seem right IMHO.

What in the world... I feel like that would take all of the joy out of your actual pinning ceremony

I'm graduating in December and we are having our pinning in November which is strange to me too. I mean it's an entire month before school is done. A lot can happen in a month, god forbid! I asked why we were having it so early and they said because there is so much going on at the end of the semester. I feel like you do too. I would love for it to be at the end of the semester when we are actually done and will have something worth celebrating.
