Need start date advice!

OK. So i've been planning to apply to start nursing school for Fall 2005. My husband thinks it would be best if I waited and started January 2006 (1 semester later). If I was to do that, I would have Semester 1 from Jan-May. I'd get that summer off and would start Sem 2 in Fall 2006, Sem 3 in Jan 07 but then i'd have to go through that summer for Sem 4. (did you follow that?? lol). Then, i'd be starting Sem 5 Fall 07 and would be in school straight until graduation (Sem 6, preceptorship, Sem 7, Sem 8, preceptorship...our preceptorships run in the summer!)

So....is this too much to chew off? I've got a husband and 2 kids. I'm terrified of working straight through with no real break. I will only be working part time during first year and maybe part of 2nd year, but I wont have to during years 3 and 4.

I guess i'd like to hear from anyone who has or is going through an accelerated program.

I start in the fall of 05 and have classes like this:

fall 05-class and i day clinical

spring 06-class and one day clinical

summer 06-class and 2 day clinical

fall 06-class 2 day clinical

spring 07-class 2 day clinical

summer 07-class 2 day clinical then graduate

so no break here. My daughter is 2 1/2 now so next summer is the only chance for ANY vacation. It will be HARD work but worth it in the end!!!

so, are you saying that if you start Fall 2005, then you would get your break? I'm not sure I follow.

If I were you I would just do it , get it over with. The more you say wait the longer and harder it takes to get your degree done....

yes. if I start Fall 2005 then i'd start year 2 in Fall 06, have the summer off and start year 3 in Fall 07.

I suppose its not much difference really, just one extra summer off.

Sigh. What to do...what to do! :uhoh3:
