I have to register for classes for next semester at 6am and am not sure if I should take Med-Surge 1 before Mental Health. The way the semester is set up, it's seven weeks of one class then Spring Break then seven weeks of the other class. Can you guys please give me advice on which one to take? Thank you!!!:)

I would take mental health first half and med/surg second. I'm assuming your program is going to build off of med/surg one in the following semester. This way the info will still be fresh in your head.

that's good advice above

or

you could do the class that you consider to be more difficult as the first one, and then it'll be done

(that was what I taught about doing patient care - do the more difficult first)

I would do Med-Surg first. Here's my reasoning: Your Mental Health patients will often have other med-surg problems. You have to go by Maslow and treat the physical first and then address the psyco/social ones. You have to know what to look for. Med-Surg will provide a good baseline to work from.

I had the same set up one semester. I picked psych first since I knew it was going to be more intese reading of stuff we havn't really delt with before. The med/surg was pretty hard core acute stuff though too, so it could have gone well either way.
