My turn to vent..

OK.. I have already posted a lil mini vent... But here is the whole deal.... I am in my 2nd semester of an ADN program.. One which you have to make 75 on EVERY test to continue, if you don't you get one chance at a re-take then you are OUT... All through nursing 1 I did great. Never had to retake.. First test in 2nd semester I made the second highest grade in the class and we only lost One student...

WELL today was test number 2.... I felt prepared for the test, studied all weekend, and thought I knew it.... Well I failed the test.. We could miss 16 and I missed 19.. most of the questions you knew at least 2 were right, but you had to pick the one you felt they chose...

We have 25 students in our class.... 15 of us failed!!!! Whats up with that??

So needless to say MOnday the 14th I have my retake... And if I don't pass I am out.. Wish me LUCK!!!

Wow, you have to make a 75 on EVERY test???? Our school requires at least an 80 for passing, but that is a culmative (sp?) GPA, so if you mess up on a test, but have good scores otherwise, you are ok.

If so many students failed the test, there must have been something wrong. Do they let you look at the answers you missed? I would ask to review the test and make sure that you really missed that many questions. Our school grades most tests by scantron, and there have been cases where answers were programmed wrong, and they then give credit for those.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you......Good luck!

I will keep my fingers crossed that you pass your exam. Talk about needless pressure. Our program is cumalative also, I think it should be that way.

Wow,, a 75 or above on every test sounds a bit harsh. My school was cumulative also. And we did have some that fell one point below the mark and didnt graduate. Felt bad for them cause it all fell down to the last test.

Good luck on the retake. Is it the same test or do they give you a second different test to retake?

We do get to review our tests.. We actually grade them, unofficially... And the re-take is a different test and they usually make it harder.. But I hope they won't this time.. But we will see..

WOW! If 15 failed, maybe they need to rethink the test. We got to protest questions we failed in our nursing school, and if we could make a good enough argument that the answer was wrong or the question not valid, everyone who missed that question would get the point for it.....but GOOD LUCK on your next test!!!

Our instructor's look at how many student's missed the question. If the majority of the class misses it then they have the option of throwing the question out (notice I said option). If enough of the students protest, most of the time they will.

I know how you feel! In my second semester it was the same way! You have to pass every test or it was over! The very first exam we lost 4 students! It was scary (and stressful) We are not offered any re-tests. In my program if you fail a nursing course you have to wait an entire year to get back into the program where you left off! Let me tell you that it just stinks!

I wish you the very best with the retake and I hope that all else goes well for you!

GOOD LUCK!
