I have put on over 25 pounds ever since i started school because of the lack of any form of activity. I have classes all day so i sit during lectures. Go home tired late afternoon n sit or sleep or eat!! Then SIT down to study. Sit to do homework and sit to study! Most of the week i am sitting so already gained close to 30 lbs just in prenursing. Replaced my wardrobe twice already with larger size pants. Cant wait to get admitted to NS soon so hopefully the clinicals will cause me to shed some of that excess weight! I am soo FAT!

....don't ever lift heavy weights if you are a girl. At the very most -- 40 lbs - 30 lbs - 20 lbs (drop sets) on arms and 50 lbs - 40 lbs - 30 lbs on legs and back. Never, ever let a guy tell you how to lift weights at the gym, they DO NOT KNOW A WOMAN'S BODY. Melt the weight off of you.

Oh my. Are you stuck in the 1940s? Heavy weight lifting is the best way to change your shape for the better. And adding muscle helps your body burn more fat while at rest. It's a total myth that women will "look like men" if they lift heavy. The only way to start looking like a man is to take steroids.

I quit smoking in 2011, and went from around 150-155(I'm 5'8"), to 180ish... Since I started my tech job in march, I've dropped 15 pounds, and I was taking my final pre-reqs this semester. I haven't really altered my diet any, and my caloric intake isn't any lower, but my activity level has increased dramatically. I'm hoping that once my nursing classes start in August, I'll be able to drop even more!!!

How long did it take for you to start losing weight after you started working out?

How much do you run? Like once a day?

Before I started nursing school, I lost around 20 pounds when I started working in a pharmacy. 8 hour days on your feet running around with barely any time to eat works your body pretty hard. now that I'm in nursing school, sometimes I go to work right after school, so I'm still running around with barely any time to eat, and I've lost even more weight. I was never overweight to begin with! I recommend protein bars & drinking a lot of water... even though I prefer soda ?

This will be my ninth week of nursing school (an accelerated program), the first semester just finished, and I've lost a little over five pounds. I have always been an active person, but have been determined to fit in more workouts during the week than normal to relieve stress. I am not overweight, but wouldn't mind losing twenty pounds or so.

Lord, I would love to forget to eat! Well, maybe not because then I would probably be dead and that would suck very much bad....... Kudos to you all who have lost weight, I just don't want to have to have someone cut me out of my house so I can make it to graduation!

I tend to gain weight each semester. I'd lost 116 lbs before I started, and I'm currently up by about 10, so not TERRIBLE this semester, considering the holidays!

I tend to eat to stay awake while studying, so THAT is a major issue.

I do stay active, though, and that helps. I've found that reading while walking at an incline on the treadmill works REALLY well for me. Keeps me awake, the blood flowing, I remember stuff well, and I'm not EATING.
