Nursing Students General Students

How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

Hi! My name is Cynthia and I'm an LPN student at Metrotech in Oklahoma City, OK. We began in August and graduate on July 25, 2006 (my nephew's fourth birthday!).

I ran a google search today for nursing forums because I'm really seeking a good support group and place to interact with other nursing students other than just my classmates. Unfortunately, a lot of my classmates are absorbed with their own lives and don't really interact with everyone else. I have a small, tight-knit group of other women I study and hang out with at school, but we're the only ones who talk to each other outside of class. It's kinda weird that way.

Anyhoo, I'm 26, have two associate degrees already and am looking to enter The University of Oklahoma's LPN to BSN program a year after I graduate from LPN school. I'd love to specialize in pediatrics and actually took pre-med coursework on the course to getting my first associate degree.

Glad to be here! Thanks for having me!

Hi cynthia, welcome aboard. I found this site through a google search too! I needed it for question answering though. Good luck with Nursing school, I just started my ADN in August and well lets just say I stopped crying at night...

I know what you mean about tight cliques in your classes. The only thing I can say is just hang in there and be willing to talk to EVERYONE. Asking questions helped me get atleast a study buddy or 2 during lunch breaks.

I love how thought our your plans sound:D

This is a reintro for me! I introduced myself awhile back but enjoyed every moment of my summer before school started the end of september and stayed away from everything school related LOL. Well I did lurk a bit the week before school started but only managed to freak myself out more than I already was :chuckle

Anyway I'm Corrie, 33, single mom to my crazy daughter Kayley who turned 4 at the end of August. I just started my first year of nursing school and am completely overwhelmed with all of the different hats I have to wear as a single mom, student, trying to be a good girlfriend to my ever so patient boyfriend, etc.

I've survived three weeks of school and my first exam which I didn't do so well on but it's just the first of many so I'm not going to let it get me down!

I look forward to being more active here now that I'm officially in school and will have 8,000 questions and whines and laughs to share :lol_hitti

Hi Guys,

I just got accepted to nursing school. I received the letter today. :balloons:

I start in January at North Lake College in Dallas. My orientation is on November 15. I can't wait.

Katie

Thanks for the welcome! I'm currently taking Pharmacology, Math for nurses, Professional Development, Nursing Theory, plus two days of clinical labs (will turn into clinicals after Halloween), a lab, and didactic lecture. That adds up to about 27 hours of class a week :selfbonk:. It will get better after this term...

Mine is a two year program but when I'm done I'm going to go straight to OHSU for their RN to BSN program so I'm looking at another year there. Yes I'm a glutton for punishment :)

Woooooooohoooooooooo That's awesome!! WTG!

I am a new kid on the block. I am a nursing student in BC Canada. I am looking for an nurse to correspond with online, via emails, and maybe a messenger service. There is not a lot of expectations, just answer some questions. This is a assignment for a class of mine, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanx for your time!

hey all, i am new to this board. i start my nursing program in jan, got the call last week and i am super excited. i have all the prereq's done and have been waiting and waiting between dodging hurricanes. i live in lower al and will be going to school in pensacola. i am active duty navy and retire in 15 months so there are a whole bunch of changes going on in my life but i am so looking forward to each step in my transition to a second career. i am also a single parent with a 16 month old and a three year old, so things get really crazy sometimes. :uhoh3: i would never be able to accomplish any of this without the help of my wonderful mother. she is truly my best friend and my sanity check. anyway, i have meet and greet information class to go to today and i can't wait to see who is there from my prereq classes. i am so excited and i feel like the ball is finally starting to roll. :) i will let you know how it all goes.
