I studied but cannot remember a thing! Help

  1. Hi, I'm second year student and my final semester exam is this Monday! I have studied so much but the information doesn't seem to stay in my head and I am stressing out. Is there any tips anyone can give me?

    Thanks.

    Hard to know.
Did you just barely scrape by on the last three finals? If so, it's going to be challenging to fix in two days.
OTOH, if what you have done in the past has worked, you are probably anxious. Spend some time doing non-study stuff that makes you feel good. Ideally, exercise.

    And do this.

Focus on the big picture. Understanding is more important than remembering a bunch of "stuff".

Great answer, and thanks for the information on the "and do this" page. I will show it to my grandson.

I did well on them. I have this thing where I study but I don't remember but when I see the question in the exam I know the answer to it. It's just that I want to remember the information in my head if I was verbally ask but I can't.

This happens to me too. I believe the brain retains the info for you in your long term memory so when you face the exam it retrieves and convinces you that's the answer, which is why you are doing great on the exam. As for me what helps me remember things at the top of my head is doing lots of practice questions, reading the rationals and looking up a particular concept. Don't worry about it too much because nursing is a lot of materials and you can't possibly memorize everything.

A lot of those things are very helpful. I used memory association a lot. Find one key point that was interesting to me and the rest would kinda fell into place. Also studying in groups or teaching the material to a friend or family member I've found helpful because you are changing the wording to explain it to someone else.
