Congratulations! When do you begin?

I begin the second week of May and I can't wait! I was so disappointed when my other school lost their clinical site contracts and I was forced to withdraw (the new clinicals would have been almost 100 minutes each way - it would have been impossible with two small children). In addition, the old school would have been over $30G. I never thought I would get into this program, and got my final paperwork in only after I got word on the other school. What a difference the two schools are in terms of professionalism and conduct!

Thanks for your congrats - I'm on cloud nine!

Wow! You'll have your BSN in a year! That's fantastic! You'll be working your butt off, but it'll be well worth it! Congrats!!

Thanks but please let me clarify. I already have a BS in another field, and have been taking pre-reqs since last summer. I finish my last one in April, then onto my first nursing classes in May.

Congrats!!!!! I just found out how lucky I was to make it into my RN program for the fall as well. What I don't understand is why it is so tough to get in when there is such a great need for nurses!! YEAH to all of us!!!

Congrats to you KristinWW!! I just retired 2 years ago from a military career and decided to apply (as a lark) to Columbia University's "Entry To Practice" program for non-nurses w/ a prior BS. This is a 3-year program when you enter as a non-nurse and graduate as a nurse practitioner. I wanted to see where I fell short so I could make a better app next year to other schools. I'm a lot older than a lot of students (turn 50 in June) so I don't have as much time to spend in a formal program. Well, lo and behold I got accepted! I never would have thought it was possible with that school's reputation. The costs of attending were too high and the thought of moving from a small town in Alaska to downtown Manhattan was too much culture shock...so I thanked them and turned them down. This year I applied to the University of Rochester and got accepted there too. That is where I'll be attending this summer. It is also a 1-year Accelerated BSN program. I'm simultaneously scared and intrigued. They offered to let me segue directly into an MSN/NP program, but I don't know what area I'll be attracted to (hell, I'm not even close to being a nurse yet) so I will do the year and hold off until I know what (if anything) I'll feel like pursuing in the future. Maybe we'll bump into each other someday! Good luck on your future...it seems filled with promise.

To all the well-wishers - it still doesn't seem real! Since they only accept 20 students I never thought I'd get in, and was preparing to start a regular two year program.

I left my other school's orientation bawling my eyes out when I discovered how I was misled and that I could no longer attend that school. I ran into five other students during the NET who had the same problem with my first school. Community colleges were not the right fit as they battled every step of the way with GPAs, etc.

For those of you deciding - look for the right fit over the BSN/ADN nonsense - you won't be disappointed! Good luck to everyone!!
