How was your first day of nursing school?

For anyone else who started nursing school today (or anytime recently), what do you think so far? How did it go? Hope no one got scared away! I have my first class at 3:00, and I am so excited! I'm surprised I even got any sleep last night! Hopefully it's going to be as fun as I think it will be! :)

We started today. I could hardly sleep last night I was so nervous.

They have Krispy Kreme and OJ for us and a lot of the seniors came to wish us good luck. We had a lot of the different nursing faculty come to talk with us about various things, went over OSHA, HIPPA, etc etc We had Med/Surg today and just basically went over the sylibus and all the books we have to buy (I thought I was done! LOL). We got there around 8am and got out at 2pm.

I start my first Med/Surg clinical tomorrow!!!

Good day, but kinda boring at the same time...lol

It was packed! I was so nervous I didn't sleep either! We already have to read 15 chapters by the end of the week, and our first Pharmacology test is next week!

I just got home from my first day. I had physical examination and health assesment lecture and lab today. 5 straight hours of fun and education (pay no attention to the glazed look in my eyes or the drool dribbling down my chin).

We covered BP, pulse, pulse deficits; did a health history and physical examination of a partners skin, hair, and nails with a write up including assesment and care plan. Next week is due a general survey of health assesment, and we will have quizzes in both lecture and lab. So except for the mountains of homework, I am done with that class for the week.

Next week we were told to bring our gowns and wear sports bras and shorts and be prepared to disrobe... Lucky me, I stopped in the bathroom on my way to lab and ended up being paired with one of the only two guys in our class (hubby is not liking this so much).

I must say, I am sooooo glad to be back in school and with all my friends, This is going to be an exciting ride these next 2 yrs!

We just kind of had a basic orientation to review the syllabus, books, background checks, acquaint us with the facilities, etc.

Then I went to start my new part-time job. I am already feeling overwhelmed and hope I can maintain my sanity!!

I am so overwhelmed it is not even funny. We started w/ a lot of orientation-type things, did 2 hours of lecture, played a stupid game that was supposed to make us get to know each other but just annoyed me, and did more going over what we need to know. I am sooo tired and my back, arms, and neck are killing me from hauling all my books inside and back out at the end of the day, but all in all it was good. I'm really excited to finally start.

So far we haven't done anything. We met in the computer lab where we will have our test every Monday morning. Went over our sign ins for various web stuff (skills online and eri). And that was about it, only an hour.

In the morning we go over the syllabus, background checks, and make sure everyone has everything turned in.

Wednesday, more of the same, and then on Thursday and Friday we have orientation at the hospitals.

Apparently we have a test on Monday over nutrition? I have no idea what that is about though, hopefully they will tell us more.

Today was my first day!!! I was really stoked until class began. I wasn't aware that we couldn't wear jeans until I uniforms arrived so I was the only one in jeans while everyone else was in dress clothes. I don't see why we had to since we did skills labs today, but o well. All we did today were skills labs positioning client, bathing, hand washing, ambulatory assistance, occupied bed making!!! Next week we get checked off ....... I'm feeling alot of anxiety and the semester has just began:(

That was a lot for the first day! All we did was lecture and get our nursing kits for labs. We got a letter in our acceptance packet that told us to be here at 8:00 am for our first clinical class, but I am in my school's evening program, so i was kind of wondering if it was a mistake. I went anyway at 8, and yeah, it was a mistake. about 10 of us had to leave and come back later. They also told us what textbook to bring to class, so I brought it, and it ended up being the wrong one. The one we needed wasn't in the bookstore until that afternoon, so I hadn't even bought it yet! Grr...how frustrating! In any event, I think I'm gonna enjoy it...or try to! lol. I'm still excited anyway.

My first day was a lab, so we learned all about bedmaking, gloving, handwashing, and got started on complete bed baths. It was great to finally be able to interact with some of my new classmates.

All this week we have only one class, success in nursing, the rest begins sept 5. It wasn't bad, we already had a quiz on the second day and had to read a 200 page book. Today we were assigned to our lab and clinical groups. At first I was soooo nervous, but now it's started I feel a bit more relaxed and comfortable.:)
