How Long?

How long did you have to wait before you received "the letter" after the application deadline?? My deadline is May 31. Just wondering how long I'll be stalking my mailman??

Our application deadline was December 31, and I didn't receive my letter until March. I interviewed at the end of March, and I received my acceptance letter in May.

Good luck to you!!!!!

our application deadline was 4-1 and I am still waiting for "the letter" I was told should have an answer by the first week of june.......I am going crazy!!!!

If its a week or a month it still feels like eternity until that letter finally shows up!

WHen I was waiting on my letter, alot of people were saying that they got in and how happy they were. I was so upset because in the past they sent out the acceptance letters first and then 2 weeks later the rejections. I felt sure that I was not accepted.

2 weeks later, I finally got around to checking my email and I had a message from University affairs that simply stated,

"your major has been officially changed in the records department to Nursing."

I had to call the office to make sure that this was for me and that it meant I was in!

I know that the wait is hard, I can still remember, but hang in there! Good things come to those who wait!

I am currently in a direct admit nursing program (BSN-working on 3rd year), admitted immediately. I am also on a waitlist for a 2 year ADN program and have been accepted but on a waitlist for clinical placement and have been for the past 3 years.

My point is, don't rely on one school. ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B,C,D,E AND F IF NECESSARY

Specializes in Neuroscience ICU, CNRN, SCRN.

I mailed my (first) letter January 11th, to meet the Feb. 1 deadline...got my "letter" back on April 4, saying I wasn't accepted (my total points were just below the cut off). So now I'm trying again with Plan B...mailing the application for the Fall Program next week (after taking two more classes last semester, and retaking the PSB-NAT to get those points up a bit) to meet the Jun. 1 deadline...should hear that I'm accepted (or not) shortly after Aug. 1.

I agree its necessary to have alternate plans...if I'm not accepted for the fall program at the CC I'm currently enrolled in, I've taken some additional prereq classes required by the school in the next county, and will apply to both schools for the program that starts in January...I WILL get into nursing school eventually. You just have to learn to play the game...but it is VERY frustrating waiting. Hang in there!

Thanks for all of you replies! Looks like I'm in for a long wait. I have looked into two other schools in my area. school #1 is a university and I can't afford their tuition fees. School #2 is another ADN program and has a 1 1/2 year waiting list, and I'll have to take another chemistry class. However I do feel somewhat optimistic about the school I'm applying to. It's on a point system, and you earn points for prereqs., grade point average, and NLN test scores. I have every prereq (big points) and a 4.0. I'm taking the NLN next saturday, I just hope I don't choke on the test and blow it! I

ggfifi, I think I'll do the same thing as you and apply to the other CC and get my name on the list. Although I dread taking another chemistry class!

I'm so glad I found this board. It's nice that we can all share our thoughts, fears and triumphs with each other. It deffinately has helped me manage my stress level.

Good luck to everyone else waiting for "the letter" and to those who are starting their programs!!!

I'm still waiting for the letter. According to a friend who works for the college (in the Human Resources Dept.), the reason why the letters haven't been sent yet is because they are still waiting on a secretary to start to mail them out. Very frustrating!!! I figure that they can at least send out those form letters that say that you haven't been accepted. But I too have back up plans and if I am accepted for the fall, it is meant to be...if not, I'll just reapply with no doubt of my acceptance as ALL of my prereqs will have been completed.

Good luck to all!

Our application deadline was Jan. 31 and I received my letter yesterday. We were told at our information session that letters would be mailed out the first week of May. (had me worried because I hadn't gotten it...until the very last day of the week!)

OMG camkib, I can't believe you had to wait that long!!! Sounds like torture. (so how's the ulcer?)

I bet you feel like doing cartwheels and backflips. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

2banurse I bet tons of students are calling and wondering just like you are. Hopefully that will set the secretary into high gear!!

Our deadline was May 1 and we are supposed to receive a letter by the first week of June. My second choice school had a deadline of April the 10th and we don't get a letter until July 1. I hate waiting on all of this. It is so nerve racking!!

Our deadline was Feb. 28th and we received letters the first week of May.
