Ok. I have a ethics paper due in 3 weeks. And we need the subject by next Friday. I am having a hard time figuring out what to write about, a topic that is broad enough to have 5 references. Of course, have thought of life support, advance directives, DNR,etc. Yet all of it seems redunant, or not enough to write a 9 page paper on. All I need is a Ethical or Law issue that deals with Nursing. Any suggestions? Any papers you guys did that can give me a idea? The internet seems to broad to just go around and search, plus, we are only allowed to have one of our references from the 'net, so I thought what is the use...ya know? Any input would help......:)

How about the Calif nurse-to-pt ratios laws?
How do you think ethical issues involving pt care and safety, and treatment of nurses influenced the creation of these laws?
I would be interested to read an article like that.
If I were a nursing insructor, I think I'd like to read a paper on a topic that I haven't already seen 100 times.
Pardon the pun, but advanced directives, life support and DNR have been done to death.

:balloons: How about addressing the issue of professional workplace ethics in regards to mobbing/harassment and how management/administration often fail to "get involved". Timely issue!
Best wishes on your paper! Let us know what topic you decide on :balloons:

How about research ethics? It always seems to be a nurse who's the whistle blower.
Recently (I believe 2000) there was a big scandal with Duke U and lead paint housing. Another with OU and cancer vaccine (either 1999 or 2000). Plus pharmaceutical trials done by Black and Diamond (late 90s). One everyone knows is the Tuskegee syphilis study (ended I think in 1975). More if you do a web search. :) Whatever you choose, have fun!

I did one a few years ago on the presence of family in the ER treatment rooms
Thanks guys for all the suggestions, I am going to be going to health library sometime this week so hopefully I can find some info on the issues mentioned. Will keep you posted...and thanks again. :) :)
