  1. Concerning OSU...I did 2 years of GEC work as well. Had a GPA of 3.4, and then didn't get into the program. Yeah, that was a let down. But now, am half way through my ADN, and since I had the usual GEC, it will only take me no more then 2 years to get my MSN through Otterbien. So I guess all things work out for the good. :) From what I have heard, OSU Nursing School is typical in intensity as others. I have several friends who have gone and are going there. And with work, right now I am actually going through the process of working at OSU Med Center, I will say, you learn alot that goes along with what you are learning in school. And the nurses you work with, are usually a HUGE help. Atleast thats what I have found in my experience. Well, the best of luck to you! And don't let the first quarter overwhelm you. Start in Sept, eh? Nothin like Autumn quarter...:) Enjoy the campus too, thats one things I wouldn't change about the 2 years I went there, its a great campus.
  2. Thanks for all your suggestions. The nursing diagnosis handbook I was look for I found on Ebay for pretty cheap, and everything else I just looked at a local uniform store and the prices averaged out once you calculated in shipping. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
  3. Hey everyone. After having my clinicals start these past few weeks I have realized somethings that I need to get. And I was wondering what sites you guys would recommend to buy from. I need little essentials, like penlights, pocket handbook type thing, stethescope cover and ear covers, and a clipboard. You guys have any suggestions? I have looked around some, and the only site I think that may have everything is Allheart.com. But just wondering what you all thought....Thanks!!!!!!
  4. ....but. I am at Central Ohio Tech. Its small, but I like it. In my first quarter of nursing but I have half my classes and GEC's for BSN. =)
  5. Hey, Thanks for the infor and encouragment. I am in my first quarter in nursing, and believe it or not have still been applying to hospitals everywhere! I may have a job lined up through OSU Med Center, but you have to be in your acute setting for clinicals, and that will be in the fall for me...so I am crossing my fingers! This has definatly been interesting though getting a job. But, I'll make it. Otherwise it wouldn't be worth it. Thanks for replying. :)
  6. Along with everyone else, I bought some books at Half.com, and at amazon. But Barnes and Noble have some good stuff too, and they are really nice about returns and etc. Good luck, this is my first quarter in nursing program, and I spent around $400, but I know alot of the books transfer to other classes.
  7. Hi everyone. Ok. I am in my first quarter in a ADN program at COTC in Newark. I have been working at a nursing home in Columbus since last Oct. as a STNA. I am really getting sick of it. I love the residents, but the mgt. is horrible. And I want to work in a setting (hospital maybe?) that I can learn more! I have learned as much as I can there, and I do not want to work in a nursing home once I get my RN. My dilemma. I have applied to Mt. Carmel, Ohio Health, Childrens. Yet, its all been over the internet (cause they normally have the app. online). And so far have had no sucess. I thought that I maybe able to get into Ohio Health since my Aunt works at Dr's West (pathology lab). But I haven't heard from them yet. Any suggestions on what my next step should be? I am desperately wanting to learn something new! And something that could go along with my schooling. Any thoughts or advice would do. Thanks!:) :)
