Dwindling class members?

Nursing Students General Students

How many class mates of yours have dropped out so far? We started with 120 in May , we are now down to 93 to date.

I think they accepted 44 and we graduated like 12. We used to laugh about it being Survivor. I wanted to come into the pinning in buffs and carrying torches with the Survivor music playing but I was the only one with that type of sense of humor.

OH NO!!! too funny!!!!! My class was 22, down to 11. And boy that would fit!!! LOL.:nuke: I have a bunch of pranksters in my class but..I doubt they'd do it either!!!

Specializes in med surg, school nursing.

We started out with 21 and now have 20 after almost two semesters

Specializes in Cardiac/Telemetry.
RNin2007, where are you going to school?

I'm headed for USF in Tampa and they have pretty much keep the same number of patients. It's not an easy program by any stretch of the imagination, but they are very much for our success.

You're not kidding about USF's program being difficult. I tried getting there, and was turned down. I now go to HCC. I passed my first semester. Yippeeee!!! Good luck in USF.

Specializes in Burn/Trauma PCU.

my program was pretty hard to get into, from what i heard: over 300 applicants for 60 spots. still, i think the "weeding out" process ends there - of this graduating class, the only ones who left were ones who had language barriers (several had come from other countries) and a couple who decided nursing wasn't for them.

seems like putting effort into something that is just a total waste of time. Personally, I waste my time playing bejeweled on my PDA, and i feel guilty about that.

I guess you can add responding to bulletin board topics that you have no interest in as another thing you waste your time with. :trout:

Specializes in NICU/L&D, Hospice.

I guess we've lost 20 now, out of 96. That's more than any class at my college so far. We still have our final.....

Specializes in Home Health Care.
what kind of .... person keeps track of this ?

I mean, I hear my classmates rattle off this kind of information; and I guess it's interesting to a point, but to actually try to do inquiries, investigation? and then to pass it on? to post it on a bulletin board? seems like putting effort into something that is just a total waste of time. To answer your question, there are at least 50 different “kinds” of intelligent and inquisitive nursing students.(no research was done to find this out, I just estimated by the number thread located on the right side of the screen. :trout: )

At my school, it is announced how many classmates we have and it is listed on our web-pages, so there is no research or investigation about it on the student's part.

I would say every college or university is very interested in enrollment numbers so there are many people who keep track and share the information.

Like-wise those who are waiting to get into the nursing programs also keep track of the numbers. If they are on a waiting list, I can bet the farm they want to know what number they are.

Instead of rudely responding to this thread, maybe you should have wasted your time playing bejeweled instead! ;)

I know it's a mistake to read emotions into email, or in this case, postings, but you strike me as being upset by my posting.

Why?

By the way, thank you for the information -- though I don't understand why someone on a waiting list would care about who dropped out of the nursing program at some point after starting. It's not as if people can just take up spots as they open up... say sometime in the middle of the second semester.... such a vacancy remains a vacancy -- not to be "filled".

I really agree with you, too, that I am indulging in a total waste of time posting to this thread, but that's what I do from time to time when I get bouts of insomnia.
