Can't make bed

LOL hi I failed that also when I was in nursing school and I got so scared. Only thing I couldn't do in nursing school, thank goodness for fitted sheets, anyways fast forward 10 years and here I am still can't miter. Don't worry about it too much you can still get an A in the whole class lol.

The teacher show us how to make an open bed yesterday one time and tested us today. She showed us how to make a surgical bed today and also tested us today. I failed the test so two years of straight As for nothing.
I am being retested Wednesday. I can't get a tutor and even if I did I can't get into the lab.
Just venting.

Are there written notes you can review? Can you practice at home - I assume you have a bed. I can't believe they failed you on bed making.:uhoh21:

Also failed that skill on my first go-round. Don't sweat it! You'll pass when you're re-tested.

And don't be discouraged. (I was a straight "A" student my first year.)

How did you pass? I a praticing, but alone. How will I know that I am doing it correctly. By the way, I can't get into the lab to practice because another class is in there.

This may sound strange but I used towels and my coffee table to practice bed making. I didn't want to have to make and unmake my bed several times. :chuckle Because my table doesn't have bedrails (hahaha) I just said aloud.."now I raise the bed rails or lower etc..." It helped me learn. Practice, practice. Good luck!

We had to do bed-making, but it was not a check-off skill. Neither was handwashing and positioning. The first check-off we have to do is on vitals and that is on 8/13. Just try to relax and freak yourself out too much!

Bed-making is a killer lab, don't know why, maybe it's because it's the first really complicated procedure you have to learn. I think everyone in my class failed on the first time. Just keep practicing that mitering, I think that's what hangs people up the most, once you get that down everything falls into place. Good luck and don't despair!

How did you pass?...

1) Studied the check-off sheet more; 2) did some additional practicing, and 3) took my time on the re-test.

Most important: 1) and 3).

I failed handwashing by watching a different clock than the instructor LOL was off my 2 seconds on a several minute scrubb. Hang in there.......
