Why I should become a nurse. I am considering becoming a nurse but not sure if it is the right job for me. Can anyone tell me why they chose the profession and what it is like? Thank you.

There's a lot of threads that address why nurses enjoy their profession and what makes them stay.

I'm in my last year of nursing school, but I chose nursing because it offers so much diversity and there are always opportunities for improvement. I enjoy that there is no end point and that there is always something new to learn.

I would look into shadowing a nurse to see for yourself. Reach out to hospitals near you to see if they allow this.

Nursing was always a career i wanted, i'm currently studying it at the moment and i find it very enjoyable, there is alot of work involved in it but i think that if nursing has always been your dream to do then i would definitely go for it as down the line you might regret not going for it, but i think you definitely need a clear mind as this is what you want to do.

Nursing is a career that best suites my interests and personality, I love helping people and believe I am very empathetic. I am currently enrolled in school and it is an extreme amount of work however i enjoy every bit of it as I know it is bringing me closer to my goal, one day at a time. If you are still considering becoming a nurse and are not 100% sure yet I would recommend doing research, some people go into nursing with a glamorized point of view and usually struggle, however if you are prepared with all the information and what the job entitles and still want to do the job it is most likely would be the career for you. Nursing can be extremely draining and it is full hard work however it is equally as rewarding.

I've wanted to be a nurse for a while now and I am glad that I have made the decision to do nursing. If you're on 2 minds wether to do nursing or not I would recommend you try it, it is fun and you'll enjoy it even though it involves a lot of work its worth it if its the career you want. Besides the work being hard, the practicing of nursing is aswell and you need a certain personality to be able to deal with it, but it is a very good career to study.

I've previously mentioned that nursing was never a childhood dream or majestic calling. The profession appealed to me due to the low barriers to entry, middle income, flexible scheduling, educational advancement opportunities, and career mobility.

My 10th anniversary of being a licensed nurse occurs in January 2016. Nursing has enabled me to enjoy the middle income, educational advancement, and career mobility that I initially desired.

I have always wanted to pursue nursing as a career from my early childhood, from when I was a patient myself. As a patient I seen the amount of work nurses do and I would love nothing more than to help others in need, the way I was looked after when I was smaller. I chose nursing as a career as I wanted to do something that is rewarding, interesting and face a new challenge each day. I feel its a career that will allow me to bring happiness and reassurance to people in need. I would like to make a difference in someone's life each day. At the moment I am now studying and it involves a lot of work and dedication. I can honestly say nursing is a career choice that I most definitely want to pursue. I believe if nursing is your dream don't stop until you reach it.

I chose the nursing profession because I love the work, caring for and working with people. Being a nurse is not an easy job. You need to be attentive; sensitive to people's needs and have a drive to address their needs in an utmost concerned manner. It is one of those jobs, so under appreciated by people, that requires long working hours but is very rewarding. I really thoroughly enjoy all the theory behind it so far and I cannot wait to stat it as a full time profession.:specs:

i think i should become a nurse as i have always had a love of caring for people, whether they are elderly or children. I have been told from a young age that i would make a lovely nurse&my auntie has had a major influence on me. I love the fast paced work and the fact that your never bored, an office just isnt for me. I hope to become a successful nurse in the future and fulfill my dream of working as a peadiatric nurse in Temple Street Children's Hospital í ½í¸€

I've never been able to pin point the time in my life where I decided I wanted to be a nurse. I've been told by many people it is one of the most challenging thing to want to do in life, but it is also the most rewarding. I'm only studying to be nurse at the moment but every nurse I have ever talked to has told me how hard it can be but how rewarding and if nursing is something that you've always wanted to do... what's stopping you? But don't go into it without the qualities needed if you don't like cleaning up vomit or don't want to spend days seeing people at there worst then its not for you. Do a course on nursing, ask people you know that are nursing's what its really like, don't go into it without an open mind and a willingness to understand the job completely.

I chose to do nursing as I believe a caring and rewarding profession is best suited to me. The majority of my family are working in hospitals so they have influenced me a lot to work in a medical field. Being a nurse is a very challenging job which some people don't realise so I think you should try organise some work experience in a local hospital or nursing home to see what it is really like and if you don't mind tasks such as cleaning up vomit etc. You should also be aware that the hours are long and the pay isn't much, but if you really want to do nursing then this shouldn't bother you. Good luck Brendan!
