After 5 years of working every other Saturday and Sunday nights, our new manager told us that night shift weekends are Friday and Saturday (they pay weekend diff from 1900 Friday to 1900 Sunday). This has messed up everyone's schedule.

:uhoh3:

Just curious about what other hospitals consider weekends for night shift.

Well I've always considered fri/sat as weekend for nights but my manager, who is very day oriented disagrees and says sat/sun.We do not get any diff until 12mn fri.

Our weekend are Fri, Sat and Sun nights and we work every other. Schedule changes are frustrating. Why the change?

I worked straight 8 hour nights for about 15 years. I've seen it all....Fri/Sat, Sat/Sun, all three nights considered the weekend. I preferred Sat/Sun for religious reasons and if I had to sleep all day Sunday to get ready for work, it blew the weekend anyway.

Ours starts Fri 1900 til 0700 Monday....I know we changed the requirement to work the weekend once a month since our census dropped. Maybe that's the reason they switched...

I work weekend option (strictly weekends) and our weekend diff starts at 1900 Fri and ends 0700 Mon. Weekend nights (1900-0700) get 1.67x base pay, and weekend days (0700-1900) get 1.5x base bay.

Someone told me that was what it always was, but we worked whatever the manager wanted us to. New manager, new rules.

Also, we have a new "weekend option" plan that allows working between 0700 Fri and 0700 Mon. Too bad the rules aren't the same across the board.

Thanks all for replies.
