That depends on what part of the earth you live on? I am taking a 6 wks LOA for burnout. I understand your pain. I tried the one week away thing and it wasn't enough. I hope 6 wks will be enough. I hope you find your beach and it works.

Sometimes a great vacation may be a few minutes away. You can take a break from the world and go to another part of the city or get out of town. Maybe a spa and some outdoor activities would be fun?

Good luck :)

I would recoment the last minute caribean resorts. you can get a 5+ star hotel about a week in advance for only 800$ and that is canadian and our plan ride is further so it might be cheaper. then go have soem drinks and sit in the hot sun.

I am a student and we do this every year, my week away is always under 1000$ and that is for anything extra we have done too.

at least look into it

You know what. You gave me an excellent idea. I think I'm going to do this too. I guess I need to get back in contact with my shrink and see what he says. When someone thinks about the things I've been thinking about the past 24 hours, it's time to just stop. Get away from the situation. I know what you're going through. My life outside work is stressful too and I'm at snapping point. Thanks for this thread. It makes me feel better.

How about St George Island (off the coast of the Florida Panhandle). It is a beautiful island, half of it is a wildlife preserve so it has miles of uninhabited beaches where you can sit and stare at the ocean all day and not see anybody. On the other half of the island are beautiful houses, several great restaurants, and (since most peopel who own homes only go to them on vacations) it is still not crowded at all. My husband and I own a beachhouse there- we went there last weekend, and went for a 2-hour walk along the water looking for shells (beautiful white beaches, soft sand, pristine water) and we only passed three people the entire time. It is the most relaxing place I have ever known. Now, its not the place to go if you want a party scene, there are no nightclubs and no neon lights. However, there is a nice place to eat with a tiki hut bar right on the beach, so sipping a daquiri is entirely possible! We go at least once a month. Google it and see!

Oh you have the right idea. You might need to make it 10 days. :p

My husband and I just booked a trip to the Bahamas for February. Just the thought of this week long trip will get me through the busy winter.

We just love to sit on the beach alllll day and stare at the water. Get some sun. Have a few drinks. Go out for dinner. Oh, it is heaven. I bring my books and magazines and just sit back. My husband and I have a lot of happy, quality time together without the worries of everyday life.

We are also planning a cruise in June sometime. Another love, just watching the ocean from the deck of a ship. Perhaps you will like that? Bermuda is just gorgeous.

Have a wonderful trip, enjoy yourself.
