My brother got me a gold plated stethescope for Christmas one year.

One day a Doctor asked to borrow it. That was the last I was to see it.

Not a one I am so protective of my Littman.. I got one that was bright pink years ago so the ICU Docs would leave me and mine alone!! LOL For some reason grown adult male doctors had problems with pink around their neck LOL Well it worked that is for sure.

My first and only Littman died a tragic death a few months ago so hubster bought me another lovely one this time a nice shade of deep pink/mauve color.

I just received a Litmann as a gift for my nursing school...if someone takes it, I am going to do more than bite!!!

So, tell me, what is the best way to avoid your stethoscope from walking off besides wearing it around your neck at all times of the day? Someone give suggestions of what they have done different to avoid the thieves and people who mistakenly think it is theirs? Can you say, "no, you can't use mine" to a DR.?

None.

I recently replaced the one I got for a gift at graduation 9 years ago because the tubing finally got a hole in it while in Vietnam.

steph

I've only had one walk away in 15 years. Mine break before they can be stolen.

I have lost two, and now I just use the one that the hospital provides.
