I got licensed as an LPN a few months after turning 39. I always said I'd be a nurse before I was 40. Now my mantra is I'll be a RN before I'm 50 :)

I'm glad to see there are other nurses my age going to school, working and not letting a number define who you are. Have you encountered any age discrimination at work or school?

I was 34 when I graduated, had been doing Psych a few years so the transition was pretty smooth... into Psych nursing.

I was 19 years old when I graduated with my ADN and passed NCLEX. I will be 20 years old when I finish my BSN.

I am 19 and working as an RN. I went right to nursing school after highschool though.
Just out of curiousity, which school are you going for to get your BSN? I am 19 and just graduated with my ADN and got my first job in ICU. I would like to go on to get my BSN as well.
I am going to Misericordia University for my BSN. Only 8 classes left to go !!1

I went to a Vocational School for my LPN during high school so I graduated with my LPN two weeks after my 18th birthday. Since then I got my RN in 1981 and BSN in 1998. This will be my 38th year in nursing!

i was 42 when i decided to go back to school and get my college degree. after my dad became ill was when i decided i wanted to go into the field of nursing. i'll never forget what a hard time i was faced with because first of all, i was out of school for 12 years and second of all, my transcript was less than perfect.
i was a middle aged woman trying to get into one of the best nursing programs not to mention the most competitive one in nyc. the program counselor tried to talk me out of attending the school, however, i was determined to stay the course.
today, i'm glad i did because not only did i graduate with a gpa of a 3.8 with a bachelor of science in nursing, i also become an official rn at the ripe old age of 46! better late than never i guess. the irony of my story is that i work at the same hospital my dad passed away in. dedicated to my hero who believed in me. love you dad and miss you. :yelclap:

31 as an RN, employed as an ED nurse.
21 as a college graduate, employed as a corporate business woman.
22 as an unemployed, disenchanted ex-corporate business woman who wanted to live outside, and became a wilderness addict, whitewater afficionado, ski patroller, and EMT. Until age 31...
I'm now 33, starting my NP.
