Stress, Anxiety, depression, want to venture out where less stress is

Hi everyone. I graduated recently last year and have been working as a new RN in my old LVN job for at least 3 months now. I'm struggling with my stress and anxiety level since I became an RN. I don't have confidence at all and doubts my decision all the time. Work is really draining me out, when I go home I feel like just sitting down and not doing anything at all, but I have a family to take care of. And even when I'm at home, I still think about work feeling that I forgot do to something and I'm being paranoid. I work in a spinal cord unit and I don't think I'm for this job. When my dayoff comes I'm so happy, then I dread coming back to work....I'm not sure if this is normal.

I dont' know what to do, I have to be at the facility because they paid my way to my RN degree. I don't know what other nursing jobs are out there that are less stressful. There are times when I feel like killing myself to end my stress, but I know that it's the wrong thing to do. I just want to be happy with my job, I do try to do that here in my current job, but for some reason, I just can't do it. Pls help, I really want to venture some place else. Any suggestions?:crying2:

My suggestion is that you get out of this job yesterday. No job should put you in the mindset that you want to kill yourself. It doesn't matter that they paid your way through school. There has to be some way to get out of it. Your life at home will be better as well, and your family will be glad to have the "old you" back once you get out of there.

You don't have underlying depression or something that needs to be treated, do you?

Transfer to not jeopardize your license

I agree with apple. There may be an underlying depression or anxiety disorder to be treated first. Ask family and friends about their opinions on your behavior lately. Yourself may think it is because of the job but your family may diagnose more.

In your situation here is what I would do: I would talk to my supervisor and HR department or my director about my issues. I would not miss anything out. And see what their offer would be. Sounds like you are a little anxious about critical responsibility and bit of a perfectionist in nature. Do not feel guilty about thinking to leave however respect them too. After hearing the state you are in with your current position they may have an offer that would bring mutual gain.

I'm sorry your going through this! I felt the same way at my job so I decreased my hours and that helped tremendously.

I don't know if that's an option for you? If not, I really think you need to venture out and find another job. No job should make you feel like you want to kill yourself! Please take care of yourself.

YIKES! If your family members were aware that your feelings were this strong, they wouldn't care what you did for work! Quit today. If that's not possible, talk to your supervisor. You need a mentor!:redbeathe
