Anybody have information on how to start my own Ask A Nurse type home business

Specializes in Med/Surg, Ortho, ASC.

Take out a very large, comprehensive umbrella liability policy.

Healthcare is one of the most regulated industry in the country, get your lawyers ready or you could be breaking the law and head to jail. You will need medical protocols developed by medical Docs or you could be practicing medicine without license and land in jail .Huge IT infrastructure, navigate complex insurance process or you can't bill insurance. Alot of money to train and pay RNs, IT, Docs, and Legal compliance for a 24 hr operation till you can turn a profit, possible for years to come. This is not a one man show. Unless your pocket is really deep, I would seek other options .

Specializes in Specializes in L/D, newborn, GYN, LTC, Dialysis.

A lot of the Ask-a-Nurse lines I knew of stopped d/t high liability issues. I am not sure this is so lucrative.

IMO, that would be taking on a whole lot more trouble and potential liability than I would ever be willing to take on. The only "ask a nurse" type operations I've ever heard of have been connected to hospitals or insurance companies.
