Scrub caps??

Not sure where this thred belongs but here goes.

Ive been a nurse for 30 yrs and have seen the old standard nursing cap come and go. Yep im old. Lol

However, my question is this: is it now acceptable for nurses to wear surgical / scrub caps on the main nursing floors such as pediatrics and medical floors for their 12 hour shifts?

I recently had a family member in patient and was shocked to see several young nurses with matching scrub tops and caps. Yes they were cute but just didnt seem the nursing floor was the appropriate place!!!

Appreciate anyones thoughts or experience.

I've never seen it but I can't imagine that I would have a

problem with nurses wearing them.

I remember when I was a young nurse :), and shopping for

cute scrubs, seeing this outfit of matching scrubs and a cap.

The outfit was SO cute and I was tempted to buy it, but

no nurses on my floor wore caps, so I was afraid to go

against the grain.

Plus, it's very possible that it wouldn't have been allowed,

anyway.

I've seen this and asked if they were pulled from OR to work the floor.:nailbiting: They just laughed. There apparently are no enforced boundaries when it comes to nursing uniforms.

I had a patient once at a doctor's office who preferred to wear scrubs because she "thought the little pant sets were so lovely". They definitely are affordable to all who want them. You can find them hanging on a rack outside the local Dollar General.

In this case, people are no longer walking around looking like nurses. Nurses are walking around looking like the general public.:nurse:
