RN's I need your advice please

Hi all! :) I am enrolling in the LPN program at Tennessee Technology Center in Nashville, TN. My question is that since it's a technical school do you earn any college credits to eventually apply to RN?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not totally sure, but I do know that some schools have LPN to RN programs.

At my college a LPN was exempt from the first year of "nursing" classes (ADN program) which was Fundamentals. The LPN students were still required to take all the same prereqs as the RN students which consisted of:

Psychology

College Algebra

Chemistry with lab

English

Anatomy with lab

Physiology with lab

Sociology

2 electives (ie art)

Micobiology with lab

Human Development

...and I am sure a few others I cannot think of right now. Check with the college in which you are considering applying to RN school. They should be able to give you an accurate picture because I think it varies from school to school and whether it's a CC, university, BSN, Diploma, or ADN program. Best of luck to you.

Typically, there are no college credits awarded for a technical certificate. Sometimes, you can provide information of course content to a college or university, and after decisions are made by the powers that be, credits can be awarded. However, this is not automatic nor guaranteed. And if credits are awarded, they ususally fall into electives catagory.

With that said, there may be an articulation agreement between this technical school and another college/university. Check with the school counselors, they should know the answers.

My ADN program has a 2nd, LPN-RN transition program that takes a year. Same prereqs apply, though.

this is really a question for your tech. school of choice. They may offer college credit if you are willing to fork over extra money for it, and you may be subject to additional testing. But, it is something you need to ask the school.

I graduated from the Tenn Technology Center-Mcminnville in 2000. I didn't earn any credits that would transfer to a college.
