Request for Pinning Ceremony Ideas...

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello! I will be graduating in May with my Associate of Science Degree in Nursing with 35+ other students. We will be participating in a graduation ceremony with our entire college, then will be having a combined pinning ceremony with the 35+ LPN Certificate graduates. Through our Student Nurse Organization, students at my school traditionally plan the pinning ceremonies. I would greatly appreciate any of you sharing any ideas or special memories from your own pinning ceremonies.

Thank you for your help!

My LPN Pinning was held in a school auditorium; we used battery powered candles (d/t possible fire). For the RN pinning, we used REAL candles.....lit, and held in a holder with a ribbon (class colour) tied on it.

Just an idea....why not start w/ the LPN's pinning, then proceed to the RN's? And are uniforms required, or no?

Our pinning was in the auditorium as well. Before graduation each student wrote a 50 word thank you card, then as our name was called and we were being pinned our thank you card was read my one of the instrucotrs. It gave the ceremony a nice personal touch and at the same time gave recognition to those who stood by us through the entire process.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. In the past, caps and gowns were worn for commencement, and dressy clothes were have been worn for the pinning. No uniforms have been required.

We had ours in a beautiful cathedral here in town. It's optional .. not required. We were with the other programs from the community college, all wore uniforms, but each program did a little something different. Many of us had familiy members that were nurses, my mom was allowed to both cap me the year before and pin me at the ceremony.. as long as we had it cleared they were pretty cool about it. I like the thank you card idea.. very nice!

We wore white dresses and nursing caps at our pinning ceremony. When we walked in, a clip played on a big screen- it had some pictures and a verbal "thank you" to family/friends played overhead. Very heartfelt.

We presented a gift to a retiring professor, and the faculty presented an award to a student. We then had a guest speaker.

Then we had pinning. One instructor called our name and where we would be working we went up, another pinned us, and then at the other end of the stage, another instructor gave us our lamps.

We lined up down the wall until it was all done, then we went in front of the stage. Another faculty member recited the Nightengale Pledge, and we lit our candles.

Then we watched a slideshow of pictures of oour class thruout the years (we were a close group).

For graduation the next day, it was an option if you wanted to go. Traditional cap and gown type thing. Pinning was WAY more special.

Our pinning was held at a church.

HELP!!! Does anyone know of a site which shows different types, styles, and metals for our "pinning ceremony" I graduate in December 07 with my ADN and our class is just starting to plan our ceremony. We have no idea what we are doing!

These are so lovely. Have a wonderful pinning and Congratulations!!!!!

I saw some pictures recently where a pinning was done and instead of the new nurses wearing their uniform, everyone wore a black dress/suit and pearls...pearl being a jewel of nurturing. The male students wore black pants, black tie and a white shirt/jacket. They wouldn't have to be real pearls, as the faux ones are everywhere at every price.

It actually was very beautiful...they still did the lamp with a candle..everyone has a solid black outfit of some type and black shoes, so that eliminated the need for anyone to buy anything special.

Something to consider.
