My facility have offered them on a volunteer basis through the local health department. There is no compensation for any reaction, you use your own sick time if you have a problem. I am not a candidate because I have had a joint replacement. I don't know if I would anyway with the recent reports of health care workers in their late 40's early 50's having heart problems and three actually dying from MI's post vaccine. There have been about 20 people in our facility volunteer and so far no problems thank God.

Specializes in ORTHOPAEDICS-CERTIFIED SINCE 89.

Family history of multiple cardiovascular events. Over 50. Not able to be out and about to help anyway.

Haven't been offered it either.

My hospital put out an offer today. My thoughts right now lean toward no way!!

Cindy,

Do they offer any benefits to those who get vaccinated in the event they get sick from the vaccine?

Not a candidate d/t having eczema; had reaction to the first smallpox vacc. I got as a child ("revaccinated" myself; broke out in lesions all over my body). Also had an allograft.

Hosp. where I worked does not offer any sick time beyond what you already get.

Specializes in Oncology/Haemetology/HIV.

As I work with immunocompremised patients - I cannot be vaccinated

Had to vaccinated 5 times as a child before the vaccine "took"
