Online ADN program?

Nurses General Nursing

Hi!

i am looking to complete an online associates of nursing program so that I can enter into Frontier's nurse Midwifery program. Any Frontier students have advice on where to gain an RN fairly quickly?

ADN programs vary from 18-24 months depending on whether they break for summer. I personally do not know of any online only ADN Programs, though others may speak to something I am unaware of. Regardless, even if the courses are online only, you will have to fulfill a clinical component to be qualified to sit for the NCLEX, the number of hours required being regulated by the state Board of Nursing. I am not sure what you are hoping for in terms of timeline for a "fast" ADN.

You will also want to research the requirements of the midwife program to see if you are required to have a certain amount of experience prior to being admitted. Being a midwife is usually an advanced practice, which puts you at a Masters degree at minimum.

Along with what's already been said, most ADN programs will require that you've completed a good number of prerequisites before they'll consider you for entry. And since the programs tend to be competitive, you'll ideally want As in your classes. I was required to take English Comp I & II, Microbiology, Anatomy I & II, Ethics, Chemistry (introductory level), Nutrition, Psychology (intro), and Lifespan Growth and Development. That's all I can remember at the moment. It's possible I've forgotten something.

I already have my bachelors and all the pre-reqs. I'm also enrolled in a licensed Midwife program but would like to get my RN so that I can just do CNM. Finding that there are more and better ways to serve my clients this route.

Non-nursing bachelor's + ADN does NOT equal BSN for MSN admission purposes. And you cannot do an ADN online for the reasons stated above.

Maybe look into an accelerated Bachelor's, in that case.
