Nursing student/Mom and last nerve about family life

Hello. Maybe I need to vent and maybe need some advice. I am a fulltime nursing student and military wife. I feel so overwhelmed and guilty. First of all my son just turned 2 and he is not potty trained. The doctor said it was ok. Most people start around 27 months but we have done it on and off for months now. Military life and school keep interferring. We have been trying the pull up diapers and those are money draining. I tried the sticker reward chart and that got old.

Anyone have any suggestions on potty training?

Also, my husband is in the navy and we will be transferring to the coast guard in august sometime. I am going to have to leave school after the summer session because i do not know where we are going yet and when we are leaving.

Am I stressing myself out too much? My fuse is short. I find myself getting irritated and mad about such small things and I wind up getting angry at everyone.

I took up knitting to help me relax and it works but I would need to do it all day I think.

Sorry about the post. I just feel like I want to lose it.

Its kind of weird. I thought Spencer was telling me he was ready. Right before he would get ready to stinky, he would come to me and say EWWWW. Or when he would start to pee, he would grap the crotch of his diaper. I am going to lay off on all this. I do need some time to myself and I do not get it.

Maybe I am trying to be super mom or something but I seem to do everything for everyone but never anything for myself. But when I do something for myself, like go get my hair done or something, I feel guilty the entire time. I start to wonder if my son is driving my husband crazy yet.

I would have to agree that those pull ups are a drain to the budget. I almost hate to buy diapers again because I tell him he is a big boy and is wearing big boy pants. He even helps me put them on him.

Don't you just wish you could read your childs mind to know what is really going on in there?

Thanks everyone!!!!

Try to remember there is a difference in physical maturity and emotional. He may just not be ready to be a big boy yet. You are a super mom! I feel guilty when I do things for myself too, sometimes, I think we all do, It's that old women/moms/nurses should be everything for everyone thing, but you can't be there for everyone else if you don't take care of yourself too.

i also took my daughter to go pick out brand new dora the explorer (who she loves) undies and made a big deal out of the special shopping trip just for her. she loved her new undies and we talked about how we wouldn't want to pee or poop on dora and she understood that idea and took to potty training pretty quick.

i read in a magazine once that all you need to potty train a child is 1 day and $50. it was something like, you leave the diaper off the child and let him pee down his leg. by the end of the day, he will get tired of feeling the urine on his skin and decide to go to the bathroom. the $50 was to get your carpet cleaned after it was all over. i thought this was disgusting and did not even consider trying it, but it just goes to show there are many different theories when it comes to potty training!

Believe me when I say, this too shall past!

I am also a Military wife and just finished up last semester of pre-reqs in school while my husband was gone in Iraq. I know how hard it can be. My son is also 2 and is not potty trained yet. It will happen when they are ready.

My little one is really good at pulling down his shorts, taking off his diaper and sitting on the potty but never actually does anything. I am sure it will happen soon though. Hang in there Sheri

not even $50 if you don't have carpets or have your own steamer.

and yes it works to leave the diaper off. potty training in summer is sooo easy.
