Excellent series of articles. These reporters got it right....missing piece was nurses recomendation for change. Kudos to all who participated.

This is great stuff. I am going to mail the best articles to that moron over at the Post Gazette. Steve Massey is a reporter that said that nurses who have complaints should just quit and find something else to do.

I just sent a link to my local newspaper. Hopefully, they will take the hint and do thier own investigating into my area, an area where there are a considerable amount of retirees. Let some of THEM get wind of this and the sh@t will really hit the fan!!

This article greeted me as I walked in the door after 14 hours at two retail jobs. After 20 years out, I'm trying to get my license reinstated (let it go 4 years ago - one year too many) and get back in. Can someone tell me why????

Just sent a link to my local paper as well. Some hospitals in my area are offering bonuses ranging from $5,000.00-$10,000.00 with a term contract. Mmmmmmmm...wonder why.

Great articles.

I was especially interested in the article about the woman who had been a nurse for 40 years, served as an Army nurse in WWII, and was only receiving a $497 per month pension.

What a disgrace! I have heard many retired nurses complain about the inadequate pensions that they receive. This blatant discrimination has got to stop!

Also, I am amazed at the hospital's comment that they think their "staffing is adequate." Gee, we don't know what these nurses are talking about? How much longer do hospitals think that they can make this claim, when all the evidence points to the contrary?

Can someone send a link to this article to the idiot in the Post-Gazette (pittsburgh paper)for his comment: "Nurses don't like their job? Then they should quit." I'm no good at sending links -- you there Oramar? Can you send that Massey guy a link?
