Not Accepted into galen

Hi everybody. I received a call from Galen today, first congratulating me for getting into the program, then apologizing for making a mistake because I wasn't excepted. Apparently when they ran a credit report on me, my back ground check showed two DUI's on my record, not just the one I actually have.

Has anyone ran into difficulty with an error in there background check?:bluecry1: Anyway, I'm working on getting in- I have all the court documents so hopefully I can get things squared out before classes begin August 18th.

Im sorry you weren't accepted. i hope things get sorted out for you. are they holding your spot?

Keep trying, Also no more drinking and driving. It's not worth it besides the fines, your insurance goes thru the roof and now you have to put your dreams on hold.

Thank You. I agree completely. The truth is my DUI I have is from 2000. I was only 19, which doesn't make it okay, but because of my age it shows my level of immaturity. I rarely drink anymore, and if I do I don't allow myself to drive. Thanks for your input.

I am sorry to hear that a mistake on your record from 2000 (albeit a very serious one) could hold back your career path. I am assuming Galen is a nursing school?

Did they give you any course of action to get into the school or is this a one shot, "sorry move along" kind of thing?

Hi. Yes, Galen is a nursing school. I was told I could sent admissions a letter of reconsideration, which would allow them to review my application again. The letter was sent over the weekend, I will follow up on Monday. I will also fax to them the official court documents from my DUI, the same ones the board of nursing required of me to sit for the NCLEX-PN. My hopes are they would pick up on the error, and allow me into the August class.

If things don't work out for me, I will register at a regular at a local community college and work towards my RN that way. Galen offers the 15 month LPN-RN bridge over, which is appealing to me, but if it doesn't work out I'll make it work some other way.

I found out today that I am not excepted for the August class. I was told it was full, but they would keep me on the roster for next semester.

I had it would them. I am going to attend a local community college, and take some classes on line.

I was disappointed initially, that has already passed and I'm moving on.
