I am a new RN grad and have an interview next week.

I'd l:redbeatheve some advice about your nursing interview.

I have been a nurse for a year, let me see what i can remember, definitely why do you want to be a nurse, what was your biggest challenge in nursing school, the whole best/worst qualities, what could you bring to the hospital, what would you do in particular situations, involving working with disrespectful assistants, difficult doctors ect, what experience you had that would be relevant to the job you are applying for, hopefully that helps! ill let you know if i can think of any more :-)

I was asked basic interview questions-What exactly are you looking for? What are your goals? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What have you done in the past when XYZ happened?

Just stress that you are very eager to learn and enthusiastic to start your new career, etc. Try to act confident (but not cocky!) even if you don't feel that way.

be prepared to take a med calc test. I have had to at about half of my interviews.

I got asked the generic ones...what is your worst fault, how do you handle disagreement with a co-worker, what are your goals.

Then I had not so generic ones. Give an example of: an ethical dilemma and how you dealt with it, a leadership project you did, more like that.

And then there were several 'scenario' ones. You have four patients with blah blah blah, what would you do, and in what order...

And one place that didn't really ask questions at all. It was a funny mix.

to add a few more to what others posted:

what was your most difficult patient while in clinical and how did you handle it?

what was your favorite patient/ patient you learned the most from while in clinical?

how do you deal with diversity (patients of different cultures, religions, health beliefs, etc.)

why do you want to work at this hospital?

my friend got asked "if you were a kitchen appliance, what would you be?" haha! im guessing they were testing her ability to think and respond quickly... at least i hope thats why they asked!
