That'd be a scenic area to visit.

Have you tried American Mobile? They may not pay as high as some travel agencies....but they have MANY contracts, good benefits...and when I last worked there, you got free PRIVATE housing (I noticed quite a few of the better paying places made you share and you had a co-pay if you wanted private. Or, some anyway, used a hotel).

Just a thought if you haven't checked them out.

I have just gotten some emails about travel jobs near Knoxville, Cleveland, Chattanooga, Athens area. What is your specialty? I will look up the jobs for you. You can contact me directly if you want.

Since I live here in SE TN, I see things on job boards..right now I could find a few ideas for you...Med Travelers, PPR Healthcare Staffing, and I googled Knoxville Travel Nurse jobs and found interesting things..As I am looking for work as I just came off 8 months of caring for both parents who were terminally ill and have now passed..I am on many job boards. Contact me so I can keep an eye out for anything else I notice in my own search.

I do remember Athens Regional Hospital has a Women's health/L&D type opening that apparently just went to travel listing. I will keep looking to see who has the listing but it may be open and then almost any travel agency can get the position for you.

Good Luck!

thanks- i will try them

hello dear,

tell me if it is a good deal i have a travel contract with 930 a week stipend 13.00 regular rate and 19 overtime and 26 extend. this is my first assignement any advice will be welcome

I think the best way for you to figure out if this is a good contract, first figure what you will bring home on a 40hr week after taxes. The recruiter can spell this out for you. Overtime is just that..not expected but good $$ when it comes. I would not sweat that part.

Judge your benefits, free private apt furnished, decent area, short drive to hospital. This is accepte=able, down from this would be subtractions... med/dental first day..does it end the day you end work or is it 30 days later....agencies not uniform on this....travel expenses to get to assignment, how much and when???? License reimbursement? Any compensation for medical, fingerprinting, extra shots???? How long an assignment? 4. 6. 8. 13, 26 weeks etc. If will depend on your life and choices...I would never do more than 13 again,, but if ok with you, the shorter ones tend to pay more.

Based on where you are going, is cost of living, like eating etc more expensive or about the same? The you need to consider is this a hard to find position, meaning is this really where you want to go and not alot of need there? Or is it a hard to fill position, meaning you would be doing helping agency by going there?

The compare the weekly/hourly/yearly wage to what you got at original location.. definately should be more but depends on your specialty/experience. You need to weigh in the perks of traveling towards that salary.

So it is impossible for me to say yeah or nay..it is a highly individual decision. With HomeHealth I would expect for 23 yrs exp in the mid to upper 30's per hr range. I got $33/hr back in 2003. Just make sure to compare apples to apples. Best of luck, even if it is not the top pay if it is your first assignment , it will let you get your feet wet and let you know what to look for next time. And agencies do have wiggle room, they swear they don,t but they do. Again that depends on what, where, when.
