Okay, why do ER nurses think they're so cool?
Kudos, my dear. I am a M/S nurse who dare anyone to walk in my shoes too. I volunteer to float ER anytime. ER to is very convenient MS floor with MD around to attend your need, no waiting for pharmacy, no phone call necessary with less patient. what is the percentage of real emergency that came to the ER? anyone know in a given night. I will tell you one thing a M/S nurse can survive anywhere. ER ICU pacu bring it on. we will have plenty time to focus.

New RN, already making mistakes
I am planing on moving to florida, I am a med-surg with tele exp. How is the market for nurses downthere. I heard the pay is horrible but i do not have a job now. And also i now want to stay closer to my family. I was fired from my previous job. My patient came out of surgery with some complication. this particular doctor always have patient with complication post surgery. You call him he could care less . I heard that He does his robotic prostate surgery unassisted. He sometimes attempt to blame the nurses. I said "do not manipulate foley" We know that we did not manipulate foley .More fluid coming out of the jp draing than the foley. bolus after bolus with no urinary output. uncontrollable pain . Blood pressure sky high. cracles lungs, sob.ect. Nurses assistants that you can never find and forget to chart whatever they did. ( lesson learn do not care so much that you get frustrated you might end blowing off steam in the wrong place at the wrong time. I was thinking in my head except that it came out loud. my safety valve were broken, someone over heard me talking to myself. ( and it was not pretty) I worry so much about the guy. all the comfort time and care i gave him and his family did not amount to anything. I love being a nurse but i need to learn to leave my heart at home and come to work with my brain only.It was my first job i learn from my mistake. It is challenge to explain being fired to potential employer.

*UNEMPLOYED NURSES*
You are what you think you keep up with the positive. The lesson to learn is that live life one day at a time. and that there is not garantee that all would be bad or all will be good. Enjoy your present happiness in life don't think about it. whatever comes just say. this too shall pass.

Please help me, I'm in trouble.
Technically it is a waste to the patient account. waste in the term it was not used for the intended purpose meaning the patient. But the thing about nursing someone can decide what is a big deal and what is not. First of all do not panic. There are lot of mistake being made because we are overloaded but no one care. the honest caring nurse like you and i are being made example of. The truth will set you free. You did the right thing and the board will see that. I doubt that you will loose your license. Keep your head high.live and learn

Where do I go from here? Need advice
Do you really want to be a nurse? There are no jobs for nurses now. If you have problems with the science classes. The Nursing course will be even harder for you. Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Do not get in debt for nursing school. Try a different field. Don't let what you hope for spoil what you have now.

termination from nursing school
I am so sorry that you have to go through that. i know the feeling. fight back smartly. and most of all make sure nursing is what you really want to do. Nursing is self learning in a way. Don't rely on teachers to teach you every thing. Be alert. come to clinical ready. plan ahead. review the most common medications used in whatever rotation you in. you will look smarter than you are. be confident in you ability because a non-confident nurse is a scary nurse no one want to be cared by.
