Sorry but do you know for a fact, which one of those schools would accept me because I contacted 2 of those schools in the list and they need transcripts from a accredited nursing program.

ps. I have a 3.7 gpa

I'm confused, I don't understand how a person can take the NCLEX RN if they went to an unaccredited school??

Dont know if it's the same where you live but in miami a few years ago the demand for nurses was very high and many nursing schools opened, problem is some of them were only institutionally accredited, which is what the nclex required. But now I'm having trouble finding a college or university that accepts my college credits. So if anyone knows any school that accepts credits from a school that is unaccredited please list it.Thanks.

You may want to 1) check your old school status (it could change since your graduated), call their alumni office if it exists and ask if they can advice something, and 2) call Florida Board of Nursing. If your old program is not accredited yet but applied for accreditation, you may want to wait for a year or so, as it will be reciprocal. Otherwise, it is your job to find a school which will admit you. I would dig first into private for-profit schools either directly situated in Florida or "primarily" registered there. It definitely will be more expensive but that type of places tend to take whoever still breathing. Get a good sweet letter from your NM and all your papers and go visit in person, speak with admissions. If you fail there, tap large for-profits like Valden or Chamberlain. Contacting 2 schools is not even a beginning of the job yet.

My ASN degree is from a non-accredited program. I completed an online BSN degree at Western Governors University last year.

A nursing program needs approval to operate by the board of nursing, but not accreditation.
For nursing programs, the accreditation process is a voluntary one to provide assurance of a certain level of educational standards.

I have posted about this before. There are 2 types of accreditation: one is by the community college association or by your state. It would be an accredited school. They can also be accredited by a nursing organization (when I went to school it was NLN). If you took the NCLEX, and are allowed to practice by your BON, your degree is accredited by the state. I went to a County community college and was accepted into an RN-BSN program at 2 different state universities. It is more prestigious to be accredited by a nursing association, but not necessary. I am now in an MSN program.
