My First Interview...EVER!!!

I have an interview this week for a part time safety sitter position. This is my first opportunity to get my foot in the door of a hospital. I'm a first year student and I have no health care experience outside of clinicals. I'm so excitted!!! :yeah:

Can I please get some tips and advice for this interview? How do I dress? A Suit? Aside from my resume...anything else? What should I be expected to be asked?

Dress business like. Clean, ironed clothing. Make sure you look nice, no overpowering smells. Come prepared as far as resume. Make sure you have some questions for the place as you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. Be confident, talk clearly, eye contact and smile.

Dress professionally. I wouldn't buy a suit, but wear one if you have one. I wore slacks and a nice blouse / sweater.

Research the facility and be ready to tell them why you are interested in working there. Have a few questions ready to ask them.

Be yourself and smile. Ask for the job at the end of the interview... "Thanks for having me, I'd really like the job." - Sounds kind of redundant, but I think it works =) Take down the names of the interviewers and send them a thank-you card. Follow up in a week and let them know you are still interesed.

One other thing I thought of. Is it bad that I don't have any letters of recommendation? My last clinical instructor said she will send me one but I havn't seen it yet and I'm hesitant to ask my main instructor because I'm afraid she might say no because she doesn't know me well, I'm usually quite shy.

I would ask (again) for the letters. She might say no, but you won't know until you ask.

If nothing else, you can ask to simply list them as references to be contacted by the employer - just ask their permission and for their phone number, address, and e-mail.

honestly, it's just a low pay entry level job, they don't expect much from you. i don't think the interview will be too difficult, don't sweat it.

Nice one. Also research about the position you're applying for. Have a some idea about the mission statement, ideals of the place you're applying to.
