Ok, I had a positive drug screen. . .taking Tyl#3 s/p wisdom teeth extraction. . . my screen was positive for codeine & morphine. . . Trying to remember but can't find anything in my books, is codeine excreted through urine as morphine?
Thanks.
my hospital has it written down on the paperwork when you are hired that you can be submitted to random drug screens at anytime. Been there 5yrs and haven't had one yet. You can contact your manager or nurse coordinator if you suspect someone and they can take them right then for a "just cause" screen if they feel it is appropiate. But you never know. And with all the drugs that can cause false positives (sinus meds, cold meds, diet pills, etc..) everyone better make sure to tell the people EVERYTHING YOU TAKE including all OTC meds just to be on the safe side!!! When I looked up on a website what drugs could cause false positives I was actually amazed!
I've read this before on this BB, but I'll mention it now..at most hospitals, if you suffer an injury (FALL, Injure back, pull a muscle, etc.) and go to your ER, (for insurance or workman's comp, etc. to pay), you WILL be given blood/urine screening PRIOR TO exam by er doc.
You have to PROVE you were not IMPAIRED.
