I believe the Michigan Board of Nursing takes direction from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, just as Illinois does. In my opinion they protect malpractice and other insurers instead of the general public.

In my opinion and experience, the NCSBN has no heart or ethics when it comes to nurses or to actually protecting patients.

They advise the Michigan Board of Nursing and have a model nurse practice act that they try to have the Michigan Board of Nursing adopt and cause the legislature to pass. I believe that if you are a nurse being investigated in Michigan that you are screwed, the same as Illinois nurses.

I hope the IRS takes a good look at the NCSBN's 501 c 3 not for profit status in light of their influence on state's legislation. They seem to be private business consultants to states as well as "middle men" for Pearson Vue.

They are not advocating for the safety of the general public. They increase the costs of health care to taxpayers. The nurses who are directing the NCSBN need to get real jobs down here on earth with the rest of us.

The international interest of the NCSBN really has me concerned because I believe that the states of the U.S. need to regulate our practice of nursing. We have enough U.S. citizens who are qualified to be students of nursing and enough U.S. nurses to care for our own citizens.

I am an RN in Michigan with some knowledge regarding the Michigan BON. Is there something specific you would like to know? I have an RN-friend who was investigated and reprimanded (license suspended for awhile)for falsifying a Blood Pressure report (false documentation). another RN I know was investigated for substance abuse, was told to go to treatment, and nothing else happened to her. It is hard to know what the MI BON considers "harmful to patients" and what is not...

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE TO REPORT TO THE MICHIGAN BON

what kind of work did she do while her licence was suspended?

When nurses apply for a position do employers do a background check ?

We need a background check for school and people with a misdemeanor are out.

Im not worried for myself, just curious.

What if you got the conviction after you are a nurse, do they pull your liscence?

Are you from Michigan?
