hi guys! So I just recently passed my NCLEX, now I am waiting for my certificate to arrive. I actually
graduated March 2014, then I became a registered nurse back in my country on JaNuary 2015, since then I haven't practiced my profession until now
I am here in NYC, and blessed that I passed my exam.
Now I'm nervous if some hospital will hire me?
Should I get some courses like ACLS & IV cert?
im pretty nervous but I really want to start working already:( need some advice

What part of NY? NYC is extremely impacted. Most employers will offer required trainings such as IV skills as part of facility orientation.
If you graduated 3 years ago and haven't worked NYC options will be limited

well im from Queens, hoping I could apply in areas near it, like manhattan or just somewhere near the area. I know thats my concern too. Althoug I worked like being a care giver but not in a hospital.
Thought it was really hard to pass the exam, but realized its hard to look for a job.
Look at long term care
Surgical centers
Nursing homes
Subacute rehab
Rehab like health south
Psych
Long term acute care (ltach)
Your chances are slim for hospital.
Do you know what you call a nurse who starts out in rehab or LTC? Employed.

Sorry for the late reply, yes i might do that if everything fails.
Although my uncle said he will try to recommend me in some hospitals, but i dont know if that will work out, unless he really have a good connection.
So you mentioned the hospitals will just train me with the IV/BLS? so that means i dont really have to join classes? :))
thank you so much
CPR/BCLS is basically expected to be current with your nursing license. Not all jobs need IV skills or ACLS/PALS/NRP etc

It is a plus to have ACLS/PALS/NRP Etc.... spend a few more dollars for a better chance of getting hired. But of course, the certs. will be dependent on to where you want to be. You'll never know! If anything, forget IV Certification!
It's always great to have your ducks in a row! :)
Good Luck!

Did you pass NCLEX-RN or LPN? Because I have never heard of an IV cert for RN's, only LPN's. If you passed NCLEX-RN do you have your Associates or Bachelor's? I had a co-worker from the city and she has her Associates (she got it in a different part of the State, not the City) and she decided to not actively look in the City until she went back for her Bachelor's. Not saying it can't be done, but it definitely sounds like its a tough market.
