Also how do you think the public views male nurses? Might sound like a stupid question but I'm not in the field so I have no clue.

I work in a Mother/Baby ward and have a male co-worker who is an LPN.I have been very impressed with his professionlism and knowledge. He is great to work with.I wouldn't trade 10 females for him.He teaches the breastfeeding class and does a fantastic job. And the patients love him!!

It's really a BALL!

Don't know about anyone else, but I for one absolutely DETEST the term "male nurses". How about we all start saying "female insurance officers" or "male computer technicians" as well? I don't know of any other profession (other than doctors maybe) who define their personnel based on their gender. GET OVER IT, PEOPLE!!!

In all fairness, I hear a lot about "female" police officers, doctors, firefighters and even mailmen:)

you forgot!...male strippers.......:chuckle :roll :chuckle

LOL!!! I would never forget those male strippers!

The more men around, the better it is. This applies to most situations.

I'm curious about why this question resurfaces every few weeks...guess people don't bother looking in the archives.

Here's another one for the proposed Allnurses FAQ thread.

The more the merrier.

I work in anesthesiology of 7 years. At us in branch 2 guys and 8 girls. And not any problems in mutual relation. For a working day we so strongly get tired, that on any nonsenses there are no forces. Simply be the normal person and you will not have any problems with colleagues.

I from Ukraine and I search for work abroad but not in USA.

I don't have a TOEFL the certificate.

Thank for any advice the help.

I feel honored and connected to female PT's who say right up front they respect for me for entering RN because it's mostly females. It has really happened several times; No lie. I usually say I am inspired by women for bringing on positive change in the workplace 30-40 years ago. Maybe I'm off on my math, lol :-(

How do I feel about "male nurses"?

a) I hate the term;

b) It depends entirely on the male in question.

Guess I feel the same as I do about "female nurses"
