Our facility is up for a JCAHO survey this year. Because of the schedules of some of our clinics, we knew that JC would arrive before Memorial Day. When I was hired last fall, I was told that I would be responsible for making sure our clinic was in full compliance, as well as making sure all staff were prepared for the visit. Starting in January, I've been in full JC mode. At our monthly staff meetings, I've created "JCAHO Jeopardy" with lists of "trivia" questions that JC might ask, and candy for people who answer questions correctly. I've made sure our JC bulletin board is always up to date with our latest stats and lists of things that need to be displayed.

I've totally busted my butt, and I felt SO prepared, and felt confident that our entire staff was very prepared for anything that would come up.

And they skipped us. Our clinic has about 8 departments (I manage one of them) and JC went to 6 of them. They skipped us. Seriously, they went to the department right next to ours, and then just walked out afterwards.

I get that they don't have time to go everywhere. But MAN, I have been putting my blood, sweat and tears into this for the last 5 months. I was actually LOOKING FORWARD to their arrival. I literally had a moment where I felt like crying. Just for a moment, but it was there.

Anyway, just needed to vent.

This is the first time an allnurses member has been disappointed because JCAHO didn't come. I think you should get a sticker or something. Post your address, and we'll all send sympathy cards.:D

LOL, JCAHO is due at my facility any day now. I worked 16 hours last Sunday just so I had time to thoroughly clean my area. We've had so many walk through meetings , SO MUCH time has been put into preparing. If they skipped us I think we'd die from happiness!

I know how much hard work goes into those visits...((HUGS))

After standing on my head to prepare I'd be pretty upset too.
