Nowhere else is it permissible to crack up over a death. Nowhere else are gross things normal. Nowhere else can I vent about a ream of awful prima donna patients without being told I have no compassion.
Y'all know who you are. And thanks.

When the pawpaw hits the fan, always get behind the resident old bat. Where there are bats, there are usually balls....

I love crusty old bats. I love BEING a crusty old bat. Because when you're a crusty old bat, very little fazes you or makes you afraid. Thanks for recognizing the crusty old bat contingent!

I think I am going to get a t-shirt made that reads:
I am a crusty old bat
I am not afraid of things that go 'splat'!
Some may call me jaded
But many a patient I have aided.
As the years fly by
I am described as spry.
And then I think back
When I didn't know jack.
From crusty old bats I have learned much
Because they showed me the value of a nurse's touch.
Here's to crusty old bats! May we live long and not have all of our joints replaced before we retire!

I'm not a crusty old bat yet but some days I feel like one And I appreciate the ones I do come across.

I admire the crusty old bats - my mom is a "crusty old bat" and I admire her for it.
My nursing instructor is a crusty old bat and expects me to become one overnight. I'm still a newbie and I haven't earned that title yet but someday, I hope I will.
The bad smells don't phase me, the overly anxious doctors who only want a patient's signature don't scare me... it's just those certain nurses that eat their young that freak me out. *sigh*
