Nurses General Nursing

Should I be a nurse: I am going to scream!:banghead: How in the HE double hockey sticks are we supposed to know what is right for you?? I am sorry if I sound rude not my intent, but it just makes me wonder, do you have to have all your decisions made by another person if so you ARE going to have a hard time being a burse. I am a EMT and if I had to ask someone to do XYZ before I do what I know needs to be done, I would have a poor patient outcome. Sorry but this is getting old

Why anyone would want or trust advice from 100 strangers for such an important decision is beyond me.

Like, I'm between 45-50 years old, a medical train wreck, but I kinda think I'd like to have some kids. I can't adopt, so will have to find a donor and turkey baster since not many candidates are looming in this ratty town.... Ya think I should just hit up the sperm bank for some leftovers that don't cost much, and give it a whirl? :D Maybe aim low, and be grateful for anything that shows up without plant material in the gene pool???

Now that's funny right there!

"Step right up to Super Sam's surplus sperm bank and tire change center! We guarantee that any particular vial has only been accidentally thawed no more than 2 times, and those stories about us using bull sperm are just nasty rumors by our competitors. However, if your child's born with horns, well, come on back and we'll give you a free t-shirt! We keep costs down by not doing all those expensive lab tests, we get our turkey basters wholesale, and don't use them more than twice. Come on down, and while we've got your vial in the microwave, we'll rotate the tires and change your oil. When you think of sperm, tires or oil, think of us, Super Sams!"

One of my personal favs is "I have a 2.0 GPA. Can you tell me what schools will accept me?"

These same individuals are shocked when, at the end of their program they've failed Boards. "I don't understand it! The BON is so unfair!"

Uh...couldn't see that one coming? Nope.

I have a 2.0 GPA, a criminal record, and I'm pregnant. What are my chances of getting into nursing school? Should I wait to apply until after the baby is born? Should I wait until I'm paroled?

Like, how do I give like, notice? Like, how do I like, quit my job? Like, do you like, think they'll like, be like, mad at me? Maybe like, my mom could like, write like, a note or like something.

I'm a 64 year old nursing student who will retire in 24 months. I need some help please. My homework assignment is to decide if the left side of the patient's body is the patient's left or my left. And when I take their blood pressure if it's 220/118 and they say that's what their blood pressure usually is, is that too high? And I have to interview a nurse who started nursing school older than me, can anyone help. And if you have any left over reports on teenaged pregnancy could you pm me so you can email them to me. And I need to know if my conviction for smoking pot in 1968 will show up on my background check?

Going back to the original OP, I've been thinking the same thing lately! I usually don't care what people post at all, nor how many times they post it. But the "should I be a nurse" or "did I make a mistake by becoming a nurse" posts, seem to be popping up way more than usual.

People can give you the pros and cons of the profession, and they can also comfort you when you vent. But to say whether or not you should become a nurse or continue the path, that has to come from within. It's not something a bunch of strangers can answer for you. :twocents:

Let's add "which of the multiple job offers I am considering should I take?" If you are so good you have multiple offers then you out to be smart enough to figure out which one is right for you.
