I cant argue anymore friends........

Nurses General Nursing

Published

well the thing I have been dreading more than anything else has happend

I have been taken off my permanent nightshift and am being forced to rotate to days ....

wouldnt be a big deal except I went back to school based on the fact that I would be given permanent night shift and now in a moment its gone

I wont go into detail for privacy sake but lets just say that management/our unit administrator have been doing all kinds of horrific things lately and this is just the latest

I think its time for me to resume it up and get the heck out of there...

I havent done a resume in so long...

I love the nurses I work with

I dont want to leave but feel frickin hopeless...

they had me doing five nights in a row at one point and my body was okay with it cuz i was used to the nightshift, now they have me doing five days in a row and theres no way on gods green earth I can do it - its technically against our union contract but since I'm in school I bent on the rules a little

now im thinkin i need to go back to being a rules girl

I was going to write a letter to HR explaining that I'm in school and there is such a thing as innovative scheduling at our hospital and thats been taken away from me

but now im wondering if i should even bother

Sorry to hear that they are screwing you over like that. Maybe though, this will lead to something better. Go ahead and do a resume, see what else is out there.

I wish you the best of luck!

Wendy.......dust off the resume. There are lots of site to help you.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

Dust up the resume. But please bother to tell them how you feel. If it doesn't change for you, perhaps it will for the next student who works there.

That's awful. Come down here. There is no Union, but we bend over backwards, and turn flips, and do anything for the students. They can write their own schedule and their own tickets. Some of them get paid 40 hours for working only 16, just so they can stay in school and succeed.

Specializes in Oncology/Haemetology/HIV.

I think it sounds like time to get the old curriculae vitae together, and start huming "Take this job and shove it"

This is what pisses me off about places. They whine that they don't have enough quality staff and then they screw over the ones they have. I hope you find something else...:)

Hugs to you my sparkling, profanity-spewing buddy....:D

Kristy

oh I'm quite vocal so I think its a safe bet that I will speak up

but its tiring to have to deal with this sort of thing

you know its bad when management sets out to upset their workforce...

vindictive even

"When one door closes, another one opens...."

Or some crap like that.

Ditto what everyone else says. And if all else fails, they're hiring in Ohio Wendles..... ;) :D

Heather

I'm with 3rdShiftGuy---Come on down! Jobs aplenty and schools willing to take a transfer and your money. All goofing aside, there are sooo many places to work and live, why should you settle for anything less than absolutely what you want.

Yes, Heather is right- when one door closes another opens.

The way you have been treated really stinks, but there are bound to be places that would be very happy to get you.

As for the resume- does your school have a career development center or something of the sort? They could help you with your resume at no charge.

Good luck, and please don't let the bastards get you down more than they already have.

Try www.workopolis.com

I found my latest job there. It has a lot of adds from newspapers. It is easy to search and it's Canadian so it has lots of nursing jobs in and around Toronto ( lots in Kitchener too)

Dude. I can't believe they are actually forcing people OFF night shift. Just when you think you've heard everything...

Wendy, I'd be happy to help with your resume if you'd like. I'm setting up my own unofficial consulting business here. Susy and Sunny are my references. ;)
