How to start

Hello everyone,

I just want to ask for advise on how and where to start since I just recently passed NCLEX. My lincense is registered at Florida but I can't move until next year since I'm still fixing something here in LA. I was also wondering if there are any home health care facility here in LA that would allow me to work as an RN even though I'm registered at FLorida.

Will really appreciate your help.

Thank you so much!

No. Only VA & federal facilities will let you work with an out of state license but the application process is highly competitive and can take 6+ months for the process

Hello! And welcome to AN!

Louisiana will not allow you to practice under your Florida license. You will need to look up the BON there and find out the process for getting a license there.

Sorry I didn't have better news. :( I hope you're able to sort it out with minimal fuss, though!

Your license is valid in Florida; you cannot work anywhere else with that license. Not sure what you mean by "how and where to start".....the usual process for getting a job is to complete applications, submit resumes, and go to interviews :)

I'm curious as to why you chose to get your initial license in a State you will not be moving to for a year...?

If you want to work before you move, you will need to apply to the LA BoN for an endorsement to your license (essentially, pay the fees for a new license).

Good luck!

You will not be able to work in LA with a FL license. Why didn't you get your LA license first? You could have applied for a FL license when you were ready to move. If you want to work in LA contact the BON and apply for your LA license.
