the OB/Labor and Delivery/Pregnancy/Postpartum semester?

My grades have been low.. inspite of the fact that I record lectures, reread my powerpoints, read saunders do practice questions, and even after I've read the book at least one time. Last time I had to read 260 pages so there was no way I could raise my grade. If I only got a C on the first test, I might've had a chance.. I kind of have a chance, but i dont know if it's still possible to raise my grade to at least a 75%!

1st exam 55% F

2nd exam 79% C

3rd exam 72% D

Total 69%

75% is passing. I need 6% to pass.

I dont know what to do.

I'd set up an appointment with your instructor and ask him/her specifically what they would suggest you do.

Good luck raising your grade. I'm rooting for you!

I LOVE OB!!! Im a nursing student in my senior year and last year I found that rotation so interesting and fulfilling. Are you interested in this area? If you are it might make it easier to study more. Anyway, to answer your question, I got an A in my OB rotation and I just looked over my notes and read my book everyday. It sounds worse than it really was..just looking at a few pages of notes or reading a few pages out of your book a day will REALLY help you. Not only does it help with retaining more information because you're studying over a longer period of time so you remember the info longer but it also makes studying for exams easier because you wont have to cram..you're studying throughout. And remember these study sessions dont have to be long..maybe 30-45 min a day. Or do it 15-20 min a few times a day..as long as you get something in. And ask questions in class, email professors with questions, study with classmates and believe you can get a good grade..thats the most important of all. Message me if you need any other tips! :)

You need to write the material in your own words. Rereading powerpoints and relistening and rereading the book alone won't help cement the material for you

Have you tried a study group?

Rewrite your powerpoints in your own words, then record your condensed notes onto CD to listen to when you are in the car or too tired to study. Recording the lectures is good, but getting a crystal clear recording is important to it's usefulness. I laid out a good way to utilize lecture recordings once in the students forum. Here is a link: getting the best recording and utilizing it's benefit:)

Hey masha, I'm in the same boat that you are in. I guess the only difference is that I know why I'm failing (76%) - I don't study and I dislike kids and babies alot, and I mean A LOT! The only tip I have for you is to remember some of the strategies that you used in 1st semester. For example, I have to re-write things over and over in order to remember them. I hate to do it because it wastes paper but I have to, so I definitely know that I'm gonna include that in my strategy to finish this semester strong. Also, I noticed that I started my bad habit of changing test answers again this semester. Unfortunately for me, I'm usually (99.99%) changing from a correct one to a wrong answer. have you seen your past tests and the answers that you chose? if you have, can you identify why you got them wrong? (lack of knowledge, not reading the question fully, etc?) that may help point you in the right direction.

good luck
