Graduating in 8 months and counting....

Nurses General Nursing

Published

My class is graduating in June of next year and we're looking to do something special to celebrate. We've been together for 3 full years. At our school, we receive diplomas along with every other graduating class. No special to.do, we just walk across the stage and shake hands with some administrative gurus that we haven't met.

This year, we're hosting a dinner/dance/party following the official graduation. Our diplomas will be given as stated above, same as when we received our PN certificates 2 years ago, but we also want to acknowledge the class our own way.

Thinking of "Most likely to..." or "Award for best...." ideas. Speeches, stories, powerpoint slides of the past 3 years....does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to hear the 'been there done that' stories. We go into final consolidation in 2 months so planning needs to be done now.

Thanks for any and all help!

Do you get school pins?

Pinning is something that is unique to nursing. I esp. like the ceremony where we selected someone important to us to pin the pin on. It was much more significant than just have the department chair do it.

If you don't have a pin, design one.

Yes, a pinning ceremony would be special, you could even combine it into your dinner following graduation. My friend's class did a really special powerpoint slideshow, with pictures of each class member, snapshots and ending with a group photo in their whites. You can really personalized things like that including special people to the program or a special song.

The dinner/party sounds like a great time! :D Good luck with your planning!
