Getting dicouraged and havnt even started?

  1. okay, so i have set up everything and am starting nursing school pre-req's in august:wink2:. i got told by a friend that her ex- daughter in law applied for the nursing program 2x's and still hasn't got accepted. the community college i am attending goes by a point system (like cna 1 point + gpa etc...) i couldn't find out what her total point was to see if thats why she wasn't getting accepted. so, i called the college to see what i am up against. they said that this year it was 4.0! i thought to myself my goodness am i nutz! so the competition is a total of 4.0. guys, should i even continue on with this? i mean, i want it so bad i could cry and am willing to dedicate my life but even with all that i am not sure i can get a 4.0. i would hate to do all my pre-reqs and get a total of 3.6 and never get accepted (it would feel like a wasted year +). (btw this school does not keep a waiting list). can i have encouragement please... have any of you ever been through this?? p.s i cannot apply to diffirent school because of my situation.

Just study hard. One semester's GPA cut off will be different from the next. The semester before I got in was a 4.0. The semester I got in was a 3.77, and the semester after me was like a 3.0! It just depends who your applying with. Try your best and retake a class or two to get that A if need be. Good Luck!

Don't be discouraged, it'll only set you back. Give it your best shot, if you have to wait, well, that's just one setback. Also, be sure to look around at employers. Some employers have enrollment preference (e.g. you work as a pt care tech, and when you're finished w/ pre-reqs, you enroll under an employer preference). Also, look at private for-profit schools. Yes, it's incredibly expensive, but if you're young (say under 55) you can probably make it pay off. Hang in there.

No worries, work hard and you will do well. I thought there was no way I could get an A in O Chem.. yet I did, with lots of studying, (and a great tutor!). Also, make sure you do your research on the best professors via ratemyprofessor.com.. worked for me!

    good luck.

I tried that ratemyprofessor.com and my school isn't on there. That's a neat site though. I am going to add our school and start rating when I start in August. Thanks!
