Hi everyone! I'm due to graduate in the spring and I am thinking about asking for a really good stethoscope for a grad present from my family. I've been looking at the Littmann Cardiology 3, but i'm open to any and all opinions/suggestions. I'm hoping/planning to start out in the ER. thanks again!

I have found stethoscopes to be like shoes: everyone is different, so you will need to try out different ones and see what best fits your needs. The one that works best for me is the cheapie sprague style. I had a cardio 3 and sold it because I couldn't hear well out of it, but I know others who swear by them. A word to the wise though--if you get a high price scope, get it with the name plate, as they tend to grow legs and walk off.....and usually we find them around the docs necks...hmmmmmm

I have a littman cardio 3 and love it my best advice is to get one off the net i found they were about 50-70 dollars cheaper than going to a store to purchase one.

Cardioscope 3 is what I have and love it. I had it engraved on the tubing right at the joint of of the tubing. It was done thru the folks I bought on line from but I can't remember who did it,but it doesn't hurt the tubing at all. Nameplates can always be taken off. It is hard to erase tubing engravement

I am w/you....tried Littmann II could not hear a thing. My sprague is cheap (kinda heavy) but I can really hear w/it.

Is anyone able to clue me in on the difference between the stethoscopes with two tubes and those with a single tube that divides? (I've noticed the crew on Scrubs uses the two tubes, ... :lol2: )

I'm looking at the Spragues on http://www.allheart.com/sprague.html

I have a very old one and a newer one (both cheapies), and I've tried a Littman in the store. The old one works best, and the only difference I find is the earpiece is smaller and fits into my ear better. If the tubing weren't rotten, I'd use it.

So I guess I have two questions:

1. Two tubes vs. one tube ???

2. Smaller earpieces?

Thanks!
